That being said even a well geared thm cant make use of the 3-combo (fire>fira>firaga or thunder>thundara>thundaga) without crippling themselves mpwise. Now i understand that the combo would be a bit Overpowered if there wasn't a restriction specially if there wasn't a cooldown on thundaga but thm has poor mp regen mechanics as opposed to be4 1.20(<3 siphon mp) as powerful as they are now you can easily wipe out a majority of your mp with a 3-combo move and parsimony blows for mp return and the only way to have resonable mana return is using a skill that requires you to be getting hit to regen MP (seriosuly im a bloody mage why do i have to be getting hit to get mp back) apparently SE doesnt understand that Glasscannons like thm not good at taking hits. Worst part of this is they will be expecting us to pay for this crap and like many people in-game i am seriously considering cancelling my subscription and maybe waiting to see what future patches have to offer (since there is nothing the so-called special event ppl who pay for this 1.20 crap will get to participate in will have to offer that will be worth paying for) or just waiting till 2.0 to even bother with it.
I don't think damage over all got nerfed on LNC, it's just the system is inadequate for the direction the game was taking towards newer endgame content i.e. Ifrit.

I think people should wait until the jobs are released. This will remedy late game MP management to a considerable degree, but low level mages still have to deal with this. However, I believe the culinary role might help mages out...

My gripe with the adjustments is the boring gameplay that has been tacked on.
I said it before, spell and skill spam. Mage gameplay is BORING.

I dont see how people would want to pay for this patch tho? Yesterday I did ifrit again and its so slow. The system doesnt fit the current game.

Well, no - I actually have played 11 (only recently quit) since 2005 and have experienced the pacthes to pretty much all the jobs.
Of course jobs will get tweaked, that's not the point.
BLM however, being the nuker of FF games, has always been dealing pretty good damage (as long as it had MP and was able to keep hate away because BLM couldn't take many hits).
Yes, it has gotten fixes and there has been mobs implemented that were highly resistant to magic, but still BLM was able to deal a major amount of dmg in the limits of the MP.

I think the whole issue here is that it's being said that THM should be fixed because it has nukes that deals so much damage.
I say no it shouldn't (not for that reason) because once I have went all out with my nukes I will have 100 MP left and I have to idle in the background while you go and catch up to my dmg with your melee attacks. Or in another scenario, I have nuked so hard that I have indeed pulled hate on me and I am laying face down on the grass because my robe won't exactly be able to save me from inevitable death.

Tweak THM (or BLM in the future) as much as you want but one thing I am pretty sure is that there will always be a mage that will deal a huge amount of dmg in a short amount of time and then juggle between conserving MP, controlling the mobs (sleep) and trying to not pull hate. Otherwise there is no point for a nuker...

My main class is a PUG and I have to say that prior to 1.20 I was feeling rather useless... now I'm the only melee with elemental abilities, aside from cross class actions, and the combos/positions add a really nice intrigue and strategy to the battle. Maybe it was because my class got a really nice revamp, and I haven't experienced the other issues, but I am really liking the changes made so far. Makes me even MORE excited for when the Jobs come out

    I agree.

Pugilist has become a very fun class to play as it requires lots of repositioning for combos as well as a decent amount of TP and MP balancing.

Its a far cry from the afk Monk job in FFXI.

I would really like to see additional classes introduced sooner rather than later, the changes to THM and CON spell lists are an obvious setup for a new enhancing/enfeebling mage class, ie: Arcanist (>>Time mage). Considering the loss of several hate control melee skills, Scout (>>Thief) seems to be a likely introduction as well.

I don't know what others are talking about, my LNC still does an insane amount of damage, even in the Moogle fight. Only real disadvantage I have in the Moogle battle is that I am a victim of AoE attacks, and I heal myself for that, along with using Sentinel at the right time.

Start with Power Surge, then I begin my first combo, Vorpal Thrust(behind) > Impulse Drive(side) > Keen Flurry > Chaos Thrust, then I continue with Full Thrust(front) > Leg Sweep > Blood for Blood > Doomspike, then I do Power Surge again, then I repeat the first combo, and then I use Full Thrust(front) > Heavy Thrust until combos come up. I keep a pretty well consistent DPS pace with this.

I'm sure there may be better ways, but I found myself being efficient with this setup. I think anyone is a great DPS if they learn how to use their combo system efficiently.

Probably best to give SE a chance to complete the battle system first. Every patch has seen drastic changes back and forth in output, group dynamics and etc...

So far I have loved this change in dynamics. While it may be a little slow like some of you mentioned, i feel that the melee classes that i played so far (LNC and MRD) have a shit ton of things to think about and consider, moreso than they did before. It isn't so much the weapon skills combos but the stances, hate management, and meter management (hp,tp, and mp) that give the game depth.

THM is my next class i'll be climbing to 50 with. I know that's the most controversial class and probably what some of you guys say is true. That said hopefully the devs think about some of your comments carefully.
