    The definition I gave were actual facts and official definitions. not public concensus. just because 1 million people incorrectly use a word, or term the same way does not by any means make it true. Wikipedia is general reference, not always fact.

    None of that changes the fact, that there was a need to level out physical damage of the DoWs, which is how this got started. Lancers all got there feelings hurt. They leveled the damage of the various DoW classes to solve the imbalance.
    I never stated it was official or not.

    From a dictionary. hand-to-hand and a jumble imply close proximity, something Archers try to avoid. Plus they still throw rocks.

    Last I checked, a lie is intentional. Last I checked, the description of archers was that they threw rocks when out of arrows and the like. Last I checked the animation looks like them throwing something. I had not see that particular post.

    So would you still like to call me a liar?

    Also, while the animation looks different than a DoH/DoL throwing rocks, it still looks more like a rock toss than a punch. Either way, when used to describe a type of class, melee does not describe an archer since they typically try to avoid close proximity when possible. Just because they CAN melee, doesn't make them a melee class. Regardless of whether you accept that wikipedia entry or not.

    The game is a work in progress and balancing the classes is a work in progress. You are not playing the finished version of your class. People need to stop looking at it like this IS how its going to be when 2.0 comes out.

    I completely understand being frustrated with the current state of the game, but just remember as I said before it is a Work in progress.

    this is not an excuse or white knighting, just my understanding of why it seems every Class seems to change with every new patch.

    Be patient and try to enjoy the content you have for now.

    or play Skyrim and TOR until 2.0

    i can see where your coming from with this but SE was the ones who said that this patch was supposed to convince people to pay for the game again. so when they ruin the mage jobs in this patch as they have done, and based on what they said, i kinda assume that its at least pretty close to how they want it to be.

    i for one am really upset that my stone, aero, and thunder spells are single cast, and my fire spell is AOE, and also that blizzard is AOE and i cant equip it because for some reason that exclusive to THM and CON cant equip it. they just made the whole mage spell thing completely horrible and have no structure to it at all. it just seems like a horrible design choice that makes no sense to me

    I don't think you people played enough MMOs or maybe this is your first one? There is never a "finished" version of an MMO because its an on going game, so that statement is irrelevant to my point. I'm merely saying there is no point in removing something that worked with the current endgame. The main reason anyone plays MMOs is for endgame, if you agree or not is not really my concern because its an obvious fact that the main populist of an MMO is based around hardcore or full time gamers.

    Like I said they are making this game more casual friendly which is hard to do, but in respect for SE they did pull it off some what with this patch. Endgame isn't quite there yet in retrospect, but the reason so many people came back in the first place was because of Ifrit. So as of now this system seems like a waste of time in both endgame situations (Ifrit, Moogle), which is a huge part of an MMO, if not the most important.

    As of now, I'd say classes are on fairly even grounds. The problem is battles have some kind of BS feature that hurt most classes.

    -Batraal had ghosts around with AoE drains, making him dangerous for melee, thus ARC was desired becuase they could damage Batraal without having to worry about getting hit by drain.

    -Ifrit's sear would hit every melee but LNC due to a LNC having a slight distance advantage. The reason ARCs weren't wanted is because they're not that mobile in the fight due to light shot keeping them glued to the ground. Top that with having to run from sear/plume and it's no wonder why nobody used them.

    -While moogle is a bit more forgiving, you still have AoEs to worry about and the moogles running away. So ARC still has the advantage.

    I personally love the new system. I can actually tank really well as a GLA now! Partying doesn't seem so much a snore fest of AoE's. Classes feel like they have at least some identity to them, instead of the big blob we had before. There's plenty of good things about the patch and it's battle system. I cannot for one, wait til Jobs come out. Each update is exciting!

    Anyways, most people are doing the Christmas thing and of course Wo... Er Swotr (bleah) garbage.

    arc is going to be brd..making it a buff class lol. Well, ranged/buff. Silly arguing aside..this patch was ok...but I agree with nearly all of your points OP. While I enjoy the game I feel it needs a lot of work still...

    Yeah lnc got the short end of the stick in 1.20 and if you think about it so did thm sure we got strait-forward damage spells and a general superior dmg ability than had been previously seen of thm. That being said even a well geared thm cant make use of the 3-combo (fire>fira>firaga or thunder>thundara>thundaga) without crippling themselves mpwise. Now i understand that the combo would be a bit Overpowered if there wasn't a restriction specially if there wasn't a cooldown on thundaga but thm has poor mp regen mechanics as opposed to be4 1.20(<3 siphon mp) as powerful as they are now you can easily wipe out a majority of your mp with a 3-combo move and parsimony blows for mp return and the only way to have resonable mana return is using a skill that requires you to be getting hit to regen MP (seriosuly im a bloody mage why do i have to be getting hit to get mp back) apparently SE doesnt understand that Glasscannons like thm not good at taking hits. Worst part of this is they will be expecting us to pay for this crap and like many people in-game i am seriously considering cancelling my subscription and maybe waiting to see what future patches have to offer (since there is nothing the so-called special event ppl who pay for this 1.20 crap will get to participate in will have to offer that will be worth paying for) or just waiting till 2.0 to even bother with it.
