Reasonable Suggestions to reduce server strain with housing and open it to more PC's

    Dear Square Enix,

I love FFXIV, I love the raids, I love the classes, I love wiping on a hard primal then defeating it finally after a night of attempts. But I truly HATE housing's implementation.

Don't get me wrong, having a house in FFXIV is a wonderful thing, it's beneficial, it adds so much QOL to the game, and it's almost required these days to run a decent RP FC.

However it's implementation was horrid, careless at best. Players currently own multiple homes on servers where finding one is neigh impossible. Some players own over 10! Add a few wards, add a whole new district and you cannot fix this problem as it currently is. It's not going to work.

Your system for housing needs a rework and I have an idea of how to implement it as painlessly as possible for our community and yourselves. This requires three major reworks of the system, just one of these will not fix the problem, you need all three.

    Step 1

    1. Player housing NOT FC housing must be moved into phased areas. This is the most impactful step, and the most beneficial. Doing this allows multiple players to inhabit the same area, and reduce strain on the servers. This will also open the doors for implementation of 2. This also allows players to have unique styles of plots. Imagine having your housing in the middle of the desert, or on a small island. The server impact drop will be further mitigated by removing personal rooms from FC's due to the change with personal housing.

    Step 2

    2. Players must be limited to owning 1 FC house per Service account. What I mean by this is that a player CAN NOT Start an FC, rank up to 6, and buy a house in the newly implemented warding system if they've done the same on another character. This will prevent players from exploiting this new ward.

    Step 3

    3. Free Companies can freely increase the size of their estates. This is an idea to be implemented in the future, but it makes quite a bit of sense. The housing districts, of course, would need to be remeshed, but this system would make it worth it. Once FC purchased land they would then be able to increase the house size with sizable contributions of Gil, Allied Seals, or Tomestones. FC's that currently owned plots that are Large and Medium would ofcourse be grandfathered in but this would further alieviate the stress of limited supply of larger estates.

So, players what do you think of these proposals?

Just a quick note, that forum goers have to say too often (hint hint forum mods, take 30 seconds to change the text field that deals with character limits), but you can edit your post and the character limit disappears.

These ideas have been brought up in posts all over. Instanced housing, ward adjustment to allow size to expand and the limitations on the number of houses you can own per account. I'm all for any and/or all of it, but it's up to Square to make a move on it. I worry that apartments are something they consider to be "good enough" for instanced housing.

That works fine for Player housing, but it does nothing for Free Companies. Perhaps a loft style building?
