[new EU player] Server, Class, Monthly fee

I want to purchase FFXIV @ steam. I wish to know which EU server/servers are the best and why. Also as for classes I wish to make a DPS either MONK or SAMURAI. Can some one explain me the DPS rotations/playstyle of these 2 classes so that I may pick 1? 3rdly can you buy online timecodes for this game outside steam even though your game is on steam?(where to activate them?)

Maye be worthwhile stating where you're from. If it's like the JP datacenters the answer will differ based on your location: such as Tonberry being the unofficial Aussie server.

I don't know anything about the EU servers, but you will not be able to play as Samurai until you get one class to level 50. So I would play as Monk then switch over if you want to. SAM starts at level 50 also so you can continue the main story with it.

Keep in mind that if you buy the game from Steam, you will also need to buy all expansions from Steam: they're not compatible with the "regular" PC version.

Also, you can play all jobs on one character, so just try both (and all others that seem interesting to you) and see which you enjoy the most. But as said, you can't unlock SAM until you have at least one other job at 50, so might as well start with Monk (well Pugilist, and unlock Monk at 30).

Search about "the Palace of the Dead". You can enter it after lvl 17 or something like that.
in that palace you start from lvl 1 and go to max lvl. leveling is very fast and you hold that only in this dungeon. after every 10 floors you get 10% of your entire real experiance. its nice way to level, specially later.
PVP (when unlocked) also gives real xp.
I"m not pro at all of this, so search about it. It will really help.
This way you can try out max level character within few hours, get some weapons, gear, repeat this process to oblivion.

I don't play on either, so can't say much about what they're like, but the EU data center has two new worlds, Omega and Louisoix, and SE is offering incentives to players who go there. You'd get extra XP, items exchangeable for gear, gil, and free time added to your subscription.

It can be a fast way to level secondary jobs when you run out of quests, but should probably be avoided on your first one(s), which have so much storyline questing to go through.

Louisoix is filled to the brim with new players so I'd recommend you start there. Samurai and Monk are similar in that they are both pure DPS with little utility, Samurai is way ahead though in terms of pure damage.

I'm in the UK, so I can't really guarantee it will work for you, but the retailer GAME sells time codes usually that get sent to your e-mail and the Square Enix store has them as well.

    Hope this helps!
