So I switched back to FFXIV recently from WoW,I played a bit of ARR before I left, why does everyone have such a hard on to rush through all dungeons?!

The same reason they do in any game: We've done them a dozen times before and we can. We're no longer there to see the sights, but just to get the currency and leave.
my g/f beat the story over 17 characters, plays 10 hrs a day, and ran each dungeon 100x over.. that us a bad reason to enforce a bad play style SE has been systematically tring get rid of.
Zerg rushing is the new meta for people who jump potion'd or leveled through PotD. Don't expect anyone to know how to turn on Shield Oath/Defiance/Grit (heck the game keeps turning it OFF when you start a new instance that level syncs.) Don't expect healers to know how to cleanse debuffs or restore MP. If you get more than two DPS hits off, you might learn a combo.
Really though, the thing the game is missing is a one-time "level cap quest" type of restriction to bend the arm of players to actually do the quests that teach you how to use that skill. This is the one thing that FFXIV seems to fail to do that other games at least ask if the player wants a tutorial for that skill before handing it out. PotD just pops up something at level 52 the second you get the job gauge and everyone just clicks it off because they need to zerg rush through the dungeon.
BTW type "zerg rush" into google.com
I have had no issues with tanks pulling large groups. Never let one die; though one did dip low a few times because he had no gear or understanding of cooldowns. I never gave that tank shit though because good healers can carry bad tanks in dungeons.
Although I have seen my fill of terrible healers. Every PUG cohealer I've had has been horrible and useless. I guess they got use to not having to think in HW content(put HoT on tank and AFK). Now there's a small amount of thought that needs to go into some content. Not much, but some. However I believe they will adapt.

My gauge when I'm tanking nowadays is ignoring what the healer or the group says. The real gauge is on the DPS. If trash mobs are getting burned down faster than what I expect, then that's my cue to pull bigger. If they are average, then sorry guys you are all shit out of luck. We are going to take the scenic route.
Exactly, what I do is do a small pull first. If it's cleared quick then I'll do massive pulls. If slow then it's small. My gauge when I'm tanking nowadays is ignoring what the healer or the group says. The real gauge is on the DPS. to those saying mobs don't hit harder since SB, l call bs.
yes they do hit harder, bosses as well. A tank can use the CD well, and still get killed if max pulling hw style. Tank no longer have foresight which raised defense. Drks only have 2 buffs, shadow wall and blackest knight. Shadow wall only lasts 10 second. Rampart and the 20% parry boost last 20 seconds. And blackest knight is only 5 second and consumes a large bit of mp.
when my g.f tanks she pops shadow> ramp > parry boost skill. then re uses on cd. She tries to time blackest night with tank busters, but will use it to help mitigate damage as well.
if tanks didn't loose vit damage, things would be easier, as she would get hate and was able to spam her soul eater combo to keep her hp up. Now dps near take aggro off her to where she can't stop spamming AD/enmity combo/ unleash.
tbh ppl keep saying "using cd well" yet never mention HOW to use CD well.
I think it depends on the group.
If you and your healer can handdle it, well yes, mass pull can be fun, if one of them is having trouble, regular pull is good
IMHO it's all about communication![]()
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
If the mobs don't maul you, the healer can keep up and there is enough AoE DPS then yes, but if the enemies take forever to die stick to small pulls even if you and the healer have no problem. If any DPS complains inform him about the lack of AoE damage and watch his "triggering".
