Very conveniently OP did not mention PSO2. A by all accounts horrible anime that even got tied in to the story in-game ruining all semblance of interesting lore the game had.

I'll agree on four conditions: Whoever does the anime in Japan cannot handle the US license at all (ie Aniplex of America cannot have the license if the Japan branch has it). 2: It cannot be hidden behind a double paywall (amazon strike comes to mind here as an example). 3: VA's from the game MUST reprise their roles (for the sake of 2.0/3.0 VA's, whoever cannot reprise will use the VA from 4.0). 4: it must come out on home video (not years after it was made in English, like Sidonia, NETFLIX!) and be affordable.
We've had shows about MMOs before, but they, uh... vary in quality- Wakfu's show is generally really good, but Ragnarok's Animated series was... well, not.
If we look at Square Enix's original works, theyre not really as good, I think. At its best they've made stuff that's great for fans, but not for a general audience.
The point is, there's a lot of potential for failings in a show like this depending on how they approached it. I think I'd only waych a FFXIV anime if it was made by outside writers and a good studio.
I think maybe the best way to tackle this is to make original characters the focal point- maybe a representation of each race in the protagonist party

Yes but, only if the Anime involved unnamed adventurers storylines that don't directly involve the warrior of light make him/her a phantom character that the main character hears about or knows about maybe the WoL saved their life and now they want to adventure as well with their companions. maybe use the characters from the Grand Company recruits , a hildy cameo, things like that would be acceptable.
Why can't the WOL be the main character? We all know that none of our characters will be in the anime so what does it matter if they make the default the WOL in the anime if there is one? why is this WOL default hate coming from?

Personally, I wouldn't necessarily want to see a story based on Warriors of Light, we have the game for that. Rather, I'd love to see a story based around the NPCs who were born and raised in Eorzea (I.E. none of us; personal head canon aside, our characters were all introduced as freshly arrived in Eorzea, whether they were created before or after the calamity), with slice of life episodes and such. Maybe a "prequel" series that shows the efforts of the people of Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, and Gridania establishing their cities as we know them today. Conflict between them and the indigenous beast tribes, politics, a semi-origin story of the leaders of the city-states becoming who they are now, occasional mention of news of the empire's exploits, maybe side stories depicting their invasion of Doma and Ala Mhigo, etc.
Given how fleshed out they got with the lore book, there's a ton of different places along the timeline they could base an anime series in.
"Ul'dah can keep their dusty markets, and their streets paved in silver and gold.
Limsa Lominsa keep your pirates, and your ships covered in musty mold.
My loyalty lies with Gridania, with the Moogles and the tree spirits of old." -The Forky Conjurer
MC is a dps moon cat. rip any chance of anyone ever playing Roe ever again.

Would be awesome. I'd enjoy it.

I'd approve of a Danganronpa styled anime or a Hajime no Ippo styled one.
Dempusey Rollu-desu!
While I wouldn't say no, I always figured Dissidia would make a better choice for anime as then you could simply pull who or whatever you want from any game.
