    Hey Cactuars! [Raid question]

My guild & I are midcore raiders, looking for a new server to jump onto and we've been seriously considering Cactuar since one of our other friends is highly recommending it based on the friendliness.

While it is very important, I also wanted to get an overall feel on how the raiding scene is over there. We've moved servers before, and the one we're on now just never really sat well at all. During recruitment of members, people had a real disconnected feel once they got into the group and didn't want to talk much or stay after hours to chat and participate with the group. One of our old rules was for people in our raid group to join our FC (consisting of strictly just our raid members for a closer community) and we had to pretty much abolish it on the new server we ended up on because people were just not interested in long term commitment, which in turn made us uncomfortable.

Do you guys pick up a log of pugs for raids? Geeeve deets, plz :3

    Theres all kind of people.
What i do not understand if you want to talk about the raid after hours, why the fc implication? Isnt a linkshell the same?

I have always raided on cactuar so i cant tell the diference on other server but for me it looks fine.

I'd argue the same on the flip side. Your FC, at least in my opinion, is supposed to be your main involvement. I've personally never understood the trepidation of joining your raid group's FC; a large majority of the people we've raided with never even did anything with their FC aside from chatting (which could have been accomplished via LS).

It's a show of good faith for the most part. It's easy to leave a group on a whim when you're just in the same linkshell, but when you're out a FC it's a little harder to just walk off, especially with the new FC asking questions.

I've been leading our raid group since Binding Coil, and have just come to sense if people don't wanna join into the FC they're usually more liable to be disconnected, unsocial, and show up just out of obligation. I've also seen people bring their FC drama into raid time, which wasn't really ideal. It's just smoother imho; preference I suppose.

Well it depends on how you look at it. From my most recent experiences, most people that are going to be wanting to raid it seems are already in a FC that they are content with and asking them to leave and join another FC for raiding, that's a deal breaker. It works out better for everyone to have a LS for raiding.

I guess I'll have to wait to find out if this is the large majority of thought on the server; the input from you two has been much appreciated ofc.
Our raid group has gotten shafted 3 times now because of the LS method, and most likely will not be going back to it.

Having to pick up new people after the old members decide they're going to drop out because their loyalties are to their FC first or they want the next best thing sets the entire progression group back by a week or two.
