I'm not liking these server resets.

I feel like by now things have more or less settled down. When I logged in this afternoon it was like a queue of 5 people and throughout the week it was 10-20 queue's when I come home from work. After these resets I'm thrown into these 1500+ queues. Today after the server reset I came back in to a 2k queue. How is this helping?

People were abusing the afk logout exploit back in HW. Why was this never patched when you knew it was there and knew it would be an issue at the launch of SB? This extreme method is way more annoying.

They're creating their own problem at this point.

Logged into Gilgamesh this morning: queue of 23. That's what I've been seeing most any time I log in starting a few days BEFORE the curfews.

Logging back into Gilga now: queue over 1,600. That was a quarter of an hour ago, & I'm still not back in. Plus the lock out time. Plus the time before curfew when you can't do anything. Plus the DF queue interruption.

    Not a happy customer. >/

...why did we need another thread about this?
Why not post in one of the ones we're already having?

Also I'm not sure if you've realised it, but the number of people in the queue directly after the log out means little - I had a 1.3k queue this afternoon after the logout, took about 10-15 minutes. Compared to that: on the early access weekend a 1.3k queue would take me about 2 hours. The problem here is that everyone logs in at the same time again - queues might seem big, but its just a matter of the server letting people on again.

You know ahead when the log out will happen - personally, I'm planning for that. I have to cook, shower, take the trash out etc. anyways - 20-30 minutes a day of not playing the game arent killing me and it seems to at least fix some of the afk-problem.
Sure, it would be great if they'd work out a different solution, chance are they're looking into it - but until then this is better than nothing.

Been a problem since HW, they aren't looking for a solution. This is a band-aid fix until SB hype dies down and they can brush their shitty server issues under the rug once again.

To be honest: Even if I consider it annoying aswell, I can understand and almost sympathises with that stance.
They know its a short-time, hype-issue that will resolve itself. From a buisness-perspective it might not seem a good investment to increase the server capacity when most of that capacity will be not used/required for most of the time. Which, after all, seems to be the case, considering we normally dont see those problems.

I mean, it would be very nice if the dev-team/the game got more funding than it currently does and I understand that a lot of people are right now really mad about this - but if its a long-term waste of money I can understand them deciding against it and rather using those fundings elsewhere.
I dont really want to defend them here because the situation is indeed most unfortunate, but at the same time... I dont know, if you're having a lot of people over you're most likely not going to buy a dozen extra chairs that you'd be left with in the end and that you'll never need again. You either improvise or borrow some - not sure if renting server-space for the game would be an option, but right not... its improvising.

It takes about 25-30 min to get back in directly after the servers go down. Take a walk. Make some tea. Pet your cat. I would rather have one 30 minute break a day than a 4 hour one as I wait for my friends to login.

It worked really well for servers that weren't over capacity.
    Hyperion was really relieved.

The queues are moving fast on Balmung..something had to be done with the amount of people that were afking. Could something better have been done? Yes, but is this working? Yes, yes it is.

Idk about your server but didn't take that long after balmung reset, it reset at 3pm and was back in the game by 3:30pm.

I gotta be honest, I was overly skeptical of this bandaid, but honestly it seems to be working quite well, I would rather this than a 4 hour queue. I go for a walk when it hits.
