    As much as I support FF in their decisions too, I have to agree. This time it's just harder to enjoy FF while being forced to use a certain element to case AOE and such..I've had to use Fire on fire-resistant enemies a lot already just because it's my only good AOE right now >.>

    I know they're trying to make THM's black mages and all, but I don't want elemental spells, I felt awesome just having light and dark spells..they felt badass for some reason. And now they're gone ;_;

    As for the summoner thing, yeah, having EVERY job able to summon something is pretty lame.. and disappointing. I was hoping to have to work at being a powerful summoner, but I guess that won't happen.

    The thread is borderline qq because it lacks caps lock.

    anyways allow me to enlighten this thread.

    In Final Fantasy II, and III, White Magic consist of many spells such as Aero and Aeroga. Stoneskin can be considered as earth, wind can also be considered for blink, and water potency effects cure in ffxiv. In addition, some final fantasy titles did not have the spell shell. white mage in past final fantasy titles also had confuse, mini and toad.

    The more you know.

    its not an issue of who learns the spells, its an issue that who learns the spells is split up, no one job learns all the elemental spells. and the fact that to do a combo like stone->stonera, im required to do a non AOE then AOE spell, when most times i cant cast an AOE spell unless i want to die. the structure of non AOE vs AOE is not balanced at all anymore it doesnt make sense.
    and since spells like protect have an AOE effect without a description of AOE and other spells like cure have a despcription of AOE it makes it very confusion as to how to plan buffing and healing on an AOE standpoint.
    all im saying is the old system of spells was better, select AOE upon casting, or have seperate AOE spells alongside regular spells, but this way just makes no sense

    it wold be hard to solo as mage when you only obtain spells that half the mobs are weak to. I like the thm dark/light the way it was.

    that way worked much better also. and i can see the devs are trying to make class uniqueness but if they really wanted to do that, imo i would have gave all elemental spells to THM since they plan for that to be the BLM, and give all light and dark spells to the CON. and either have AOE selection on cast or have a cure (Non AOE) and a cura (AOE) system for all spells that could AOE

    I understand the AOE issue but, I disagree with your opinion about giving THM (a class) & BLM (job) all elemental magic. The example I gave in my first post was factual evidence for that. I want to see how this all works out together with the implementation of Jobs.

    I have no doubt in my mind that jobs will have the missing spells for single target etc. (being optimistic)

    I agree..THM's and CON's seemed to have their niches established better when only one had elemental spells, and the other had cool light/dark, life/death spells. It helped defined their backstories better as well, IMO
