Hien's Real Name is Translated Wrong [Spoilers]

So I couldn't help but notice that Kaien was very similar to Cyan. So when Hien said his name is Shun, it seemed a little bizarre.

    Except this.

The name "Doma" is an allusion to the Kingdom of Doma from Final Fantasy VI, both being kingdoms that have connections to samurais. Both the Doman king, Kaien and the prince, Hien, are direct references to the characters Cyan Garamonde and his son Owaine. Kaien's name is based on the romaji of Cyan's Japanese name, Cayenne (カイエン, Kaien?), while Hien's childhood name, Shun, is based on Owaine's Japanese name, which is also Shun (シュン, Shun?). In addition, "Cyan's Theme" plays as Hien's character theme.

This is a pretty big deal that's completely missed in the English. Completely.

Seriously, I get it. You hate Ted Woolsey's translation, you've made this painfully clear with the Warring Triad. But when you're killing the amazing references, can you please consider the original material and how English speakers have understood it?

Shun was his childhood nickname, not his "real name."

The problem is that Owaine makes absolutely zero sense with Doman naming conventions, since this version of Doma is more directly based off of Japan, as opposed to being generic medieval Europe but with Samurai units. I somehow doubt MCKF has any serious issues with Woolsey's translation philosophy, as FFXIV has some pretty extensive character rewrites of its own.

Well then they should've kept the Japanese names to the Raen. All far-eastern Hyur are midlanders, they should've just given them midlander names, instead of catering to the weebs.

You can be born as a certain ethnic race but grow up in a totally different country. There are plenty of Asians living in Europe who have names depending on which country they are born in.

Like I have a Vietnamese friend who's name here in the US is Jenny and she was born here, yet she also has a Vietnamese name, and I call her by her Vietnamese name all the time.

Bit late for that, isn't it? The naming conventions for Domans were established over a year before even Heavensward started; surely it would be more than a little incongruous to break the lore just to pay homage to a decades-old localization?

You mention the Warring Triad, but make no mention of the fact that XIV is using the names the triad had in VI's concept art. And with Shun being Hien's childhood name, and being the same as "Owaine's" in the Japanese version (which predates the NA release by eight months), can't get more "considerate of the original" than that.
