Rampart, Convalescence, Provoke, and Awareness. Arguably Interject, since PLD's no longer have a silence attached to Spirits Within. In other words, PLD supplied half of the tank role abilities...Coming from a Dark Knight perspective----what skills did PLD lose in Stormblood? Because we lost a lot.
Dark Dance, Reprisal, and Low Blow. Yes, I am aware that there are watered down versions of these available now. These 3 skills were powerful and had good synergy with each other--gone is DA-DD, constant low blow procs, and a reprisal with damage and much more uptime than the current version.
Dark Passenger, an iconic and strong skill with a relatively long cooldown nerfed into the ground. Revert or delete it.
Unleash nerfed to the point that leveling queue and L50 sync content are more tedious. Why?
From a cosmetic/visual perspective I feel a void as well. Delirium was my favorite finisher, the sound of reprisal, the sound/visual of Scourge and all 3 had cool icons.
And they still have access to them with their full benifit. The other skills got removed, toned down and added to the role skills, they have no synergie nothing they are just a shade of the skills they once were.
Right now PLD is the only tank that can relyably stun without taking a role skill for it. D:
Furthermore, it's a bit disingenuous to list any of those abilities, really. They were always available to all three tanks. It wasn't as those Paladin gave useful cross skills in the transition either. Revive could only be used outside combat and you never wanted a Paladin using Stoneskin or Protect. So when it comes down to it, they lost nothing to hinder their abilities whereas Dark Knight and Warrior did.And they still have access to them with their full benifit. That's pretty disingenuous. I lost my cross class abilities and have to give up the new role abilities to get back abilities I already had. You guys are just super salty because oh god how dare PLDs be meta. And they still have access to them with their full benifit. From a Warrior's perspective, I wish my gauge were that irrelevant. I've been messing around on PLD for the last few days and I have to say it feels really nice to be able to switch stances whenever I want without having to first think to myself "Wait. How long is it going to take me to build my gauge back up again, and am I going to get hit by a mechanic while doing this?"I am willing to take nerfs as a PLD as long I get more fun for my gauge, instead of saving it when I need mana or for a tankbuster.
Like, seriously - WAR and DRK have half a dozen of uses for their gauge, where we are stuck with a single block ability we have gotten on level 52.
That said, I agree with the general sentiment of not nerfing PLD. PLD is fine and does not need to be nerfed. WAR / DRK need to be buffed.
I sat through 2 years in ARR with basically one weapon skill combo, 2 years in Heavensward without the ability to block magic (in spite of getting an ability called Shelltron that blocked dragon fire in the trailer) and now that my job has finally been properly tuned, people are complaining? I get that people are unhappy with many of the job adjustments, but I think everyone's real issue is the fact that WAR and DRK were nerfed so hard. Rather than focusing on how unfairly awesome PLD is now, why not focus on how the devs can fix the other tanks?
Nowhere in the OP did I say that PLD should be nerfed.
As a drk/war main, I don't really want pld nerfed...I just want war/drk to be brought up. Though this is what I was saying about war in 3.x, that I just wanted pld/drk to be brought up...and here we are. Knowing se it'll be like this for 2 years, and then in 5.0 we can expect drk to be the featured op tank. Please look forward to it.
So did the other tanks.
TO be fair, PLD had a trait to make convalescence better.
But when I compared my PLD hotbars to DRK hotbars at L60 the difference could be seen there--on PLD, 10% convalescence was lost and that was really it. If we want to count foresight, mercy stroke, and bloodbath well all tanks lost those.
My PLD still has Rampart, Provoke, Convalescence, etc. Why would we count Rampart anyway since DRK lost Shadowskin?
Again, I assumed PLD was going to get better in this expansion and hoped for it. It needed a spammable AoE for sure, otherwise dungeons really sucked.
