    Dear SE: Please just put STR on tank accessories

    With a patch coming up, there seem to be three possibilities for SE to fix i270 accessories being the best option for tanks right now.
    1. Add STR to Fending accessories
    2. Revert Attack Power calculation to VIT+STR
    3. Lock tanks out of the i270 accessories as well

    There is one simple reason SE should do the first option and not the others. That is that with options 2 or 3 tanks and only tanks must meld tier VI materia in order to get their primary stat on the right side.

    That is a burden of a 250k-500k gil every gear set for my server. Tanking is simply not affordable when you need to spend that kind of gil to get your primary stat and what is the logic in penalizing people for playing the least popular role? I personally think we should want to get DPS queues down to reasonable times so it seems to me SE should be rewarding players who tank and heal, not hitting them with a half-million gil fine.

    It also means tanks, and only tanks, don't get to choose their melds. They can't meld Tenacity if they want to be defensive or Direct Hit so they can get big numbers on Fell Cleave, they have to meld STR. In fact, with a third of your slots consumed with STR materia, Tenacity materia are going to be worthless again.

    Option 3 is obviously the worst because STR is twice as valuable than with option 2, but option 1 eliminates the problem entirely. Tanks can meld just like any other job, or not meld if they're only going to use a certain piece for a short time. Please make the obvious choice.

    I would like to see a 50/50 of Vit/Str on tank accessories but none of both is capped so tanks can meld what they think fits better, like Vit for progression and Str for after gearing up.
    This would open some kind of customization for tanks and not just Str for overall.

    Doing this would also mean reverting the change to resurrection sickness, which I'm... also kind of for, honestly. Have the affected stats instead be attack potency if it's this much of a trouble for tanks.

    I am against this because it would mean we have a secondary stat less.

    Acc have 3 slots, 1 main stat and 2 secondary.

    If they add str to it, then they have to remove a secondary aka less crit/ss/dh/det

    Just go back to the HW scale for tank dmg and rework the death penalty

    There's no reason this has to be the case. Look at the Diadem accessories.

    The simplest solution if they want tanks to do less damage is to just make our damage scale completely off VIT and remove STR from all of our gear entirely, but have our attack power scale at about 75% of our VIT or something. With healer damage now scaling off MND I fail to see why this can't be implemented.

    Even adding STR to our accessories is dumb. Why waste lines of code on that when having our HP and damage scale from one stat is just better and makes more sense in literally every possible way?

    This stupid song and dance between STR and VIT is becoming incredibly decrepit, the playerbase is sick of it, and in an expansion themed on streamlining and simplifying game mechanics it just adds (frankly ridiculous) clutter and fuss for literally no reason at all.

    I am sure this will be addressed in the next few patches. I can't see players running with i270 accessories for the entire raid cycle when all accessories from raids are locked to the available jobs.
