Hell in XI I joined tons of parties when I seen a shout and was like...sure why the hell not. Let people shout, let people seek, both ways parties can be formed.

Same feeling here. Party search and shouting work for different people.

Party search needs a conscious decision and action on my part to look for/join a random party -- something not likely to happen with well connected players.

Shouts are passive on my part. If it sounds interesting and I'm not doing anything else, I might actually join.

I think the OP point is that he want to encourage players to try using search first. So far, most players not use search because they think only JP use it. But if everybody think it like this, nobody will ever start using search and good system will never begin with English players. So, to start this off, we should encourage players to search first, and shut later.

@OP. People are going to shout whether you like it or not, forever, get over it and move on. It's been a standard way to communicate in mmos since well, forever. Some people find it easier that way, some just prefer it, hell some may just not know or feel like using search. Fact is, they will do it and continue to do it for who knows whatever reason no matter how much you whine to everyone on the forum.

and even in some other games(11 for example) people STILL shouted even when they had the search function, cuz not everyone is on it at any given time

its quite easy to shout, and find that 1 person who just logged on, the person who was in the middle of crafting waiting for shouts to get into a group
etc etc

they both have their use but dont demand people to stop using 1 cuz you dont like it

In 11 it was considered (at least amongst most people I knew) stupid to start shouting for exp party. Shouts were mainly reserved for special "parties" such as shout group for BCNMs or Nyzul Isle. In 11 you knew that if you wanted a party, you put your party flag up.

here's a solution. instead of posting about it here, just send a courteous tell to the person shouting encouraging them to use the new search feature. if they're unaware of the new feature, chances are they're not frequenting the forums. sooo... i mean, yeah...

Regarding the OP, I actually agree with the OP that search feature should be used more, but tbh I am sure the shouting will get less and less the more succesful the search function gets. I am sure for now it's just people sticking old habits and not knowing how to work the search feature correct.

All shouting is not bad though... if you are missing a member or two and there is no one seeking on your level your shout might get those two to join you.
Like for example yesterday, my friend and I decided to make exp party and suddenly we saw a shout that there was a pt building on our level and was missing 2 members... BAM, we got in and off we went to get some exp.

BUT search > shout!!!

Most people more than likely are using Search in conjunction with shouting. The few exp parties I was able to snag this weekend used a combination of both. The search feature is a great tool but I think the reason many people are still shouting has less to do with not knowing how to use the search function and more to do with empty servers.

Hi OP. I think those not using the new party search features mostly do not know about it.

They do not read forums or check patch notes on a whole, which I can't blame them for. It's like buying a game, popping the disc in and start playing without reading the manual or looking up what each of the game updates are doing.

The more folks that can be informed in-game, the more versatility we will have later.
