In a game that isn't an MMORPG.
When I play Super Mario or something similar. Please just leave the jumping to Nintendo........

Jumping is part of Royal Menagerie now too. They can easily implement it as a required mechanic if they wanted to.Never. This is a MMORPG, not a Mario game.
We all forgot why Jumping in a RPG is a bad thing, go back to Ultima 8. In summary, the jumping mechanics in RPG games are mostly a cosmetic thing, not functional. You can jump so you can pseudo-climb over inch small obstacles, where in V1.0 you couldn't jump at all and had to sometimes find really stupid long-way-arounds to climb up a path.
If the game had been designed as an action-RPG, jumping would be part of regular combat, which it isn't. At best, there's one mechanic in some of the mid-bosses that let you jump into a bubble.
Also, the mechanics of it are... a bit hard to manage compared to some games, but once I got used to it, I can jump pretty well now. You can control the distance of your jumps, but it takes a certain touch that takes awhile to get the hang of. Meanwhile though, you can adjust distance by adjusting the angle you jump at.
GW2 is the game that first got me into jumping. It has some great jumping puzzles (Lion's Arch was great). Honestly, though, the mechanics in GW2 were hardly better than FFXIV.

I'd prefer nowhere near this game, considering attempting the same jump can vary between a pitiful hop, and sending you into the next postal code. They work in GW2 because the jumping is much more responsive, though I still hate them there, but thats more of a personal issue in that attempting any kind of jump precision as a max height female norn or male charr is agonizing, at best.
I like how someone wants a very minor activity just for the sake of finding a sight or such and everyone just responds with anger like they are asking the game to be overhauled...
I've seen several mentions that people had fun with this, I don't see the harm in putting in a couple more for them, it wouldn't have anything anyone needs and could be safely ignored. Just like those puzzle quests some people hate because they give no direction. No need to act like they are asking for jumping puzzle roulettes.
In Mario games
I love the Kugane tower jumping puzzle. I hope they add more, people that can't do it and blame it on the mechanics can either just not do it or get gud... Like seriously it's just some practice. I can get up it in a single try consistantly now.
It's like anything that takes any bit of time or skill is "bad" to some people.
