It does support 3D from the beginning, I have a EVGA GTX560 and the game looks beautiful in Full HD 3D, no lag either, you are going to need to uncheck Ambient occlusion and Depth of field for the game to run smoothly. Also just as an FYI the came constantly crashes in 3D for me, some days are worse than others but in general crashes much more than playing it without 3D turned on, and it seems I'm not the only one.
