That's not true. Only Dragoons, Bards and Machinists deal piercing damage. Paladin, Dark Knight, Warrior, Samurai and Ninja deal slashing damage; and monks deal blunt damage.

EDIT: And to answer the OP, all RDM attacks just deal magical damage, even the 'melee' ones.

incorrect, and this has been tested. It's piercing. Except fleche seems to be "nothing" and isn't even boosted by embolden, may be glitched.
