Zenos Appreciation Thread [Massive Spoilers]

Perhaps the reason why he dies is because if he had stuck on, it would result in something like Doomsday or Bane, a villain who was famous for THAT ONE TIME they beat the hero...then gets reduced to a cheap flavor that is offed as quickly as the rest of the rogues gallery afterwards.

At any rate, I feel Zenos does more than just be that one guy that defeats us. He also shows that the traits that got us started on the road to being the hero we are? They can be duplicated, they can be extracted and given to others. I have a feeling the ramifications of this will last long after he is gone, and he was the one who lent an ear to it. It is ultimately our efforts beyond the echo, who we are beyond the gifts and the favor, that will see us through his legacy of the Resonant.

At least, that is my hope.

That depends on how you view your chara. We're soldiers in a war we never REALLY signed up for but that no one else can fight because of the Echo, and by default, your chara at least isn't the kind of jerk who'd sit back and let the world burn on their watch. I felt a much stronger kinship with Hien. But again, personal storytelling.
That said, that IS how he views the WoL, finding no other reason why anyone would fight as much. It would've been very interesting to see more than just your character being exposed to that stance. Have the Scions suddenly wonder if they're really allied with a hero, or are you only wearing that title because you kill the things they want you to kill instead of, well, them. But with Zenos gone, I don't think they'd go that much into it. Hell, even choosing the option of accepting him was lackluster imo. I kind of get why - you have to accept him in order to condemn him, as that is not the same as rejection. But different people would choose that expecting different things, they had to kind of brush it aside.

I was kinda expecting different things myself, but yeah, I was willing to accept him. Not out of any sense of mercy, but because I see my character seeing Zenos as someone everyone wants on their side. As Zenos seeks to bring out the ideal rival, the twisted version of himself within her, she sees the twisted concept of a Warrior of Light within him.

I agree. And one thing in particular I want to see now is doubt regarding anyone else who has the Echo - because can we be certain it's 'natural' and not infused? And if it's infused, they're likely bad guys as far as we're concerned. Suddenly that Scion with the face paint they said was a 'Walker' is suspicious

Arenvald? He's been with the Scions since at least 2.0, and he's a Garlean/Ala Mhigan halfbreed. I don't see why there's any reason to think that he's a spy, or that his Echo is artificial.

I concede it wasn't the best example (and that I didn't remember him lmao). But my point still holds. Until now, anyone having the Echo instantly put them on a certain list, even Ysayle. Her having the Echo made us look at her differently because we didn't think it could've come from anywhere else and the Echo makes you a 'Warrior of Light' - quite the club, eh. That's the kind of group you'd run with.
Not the case moving forward, however, because we can't be certain if it's the Echo or the Resonance.

Zenos is like us. We murdered hundreds of people, animals, spirits and godly beings just to feel good. He even loots enemies of pretty gear, which we all probably have done.

I really hope that Ame-no-Murakumo is a reward from Shinryu EX, or at least a glamour piece like the Fortemps shield.

Gah I hate him so much and not because he hurt alot of people or was an asshole. But because he killed himself and not me. Single handedly made me hate him and didnt even let me kill him. Just killed him self god damn it.

I was quite sad when he decided to take his own life He was such a great villain and the ONLY villain that whooped my character's ass twice! I wish he was there to stay because he would have been my character's arch enemy rival nemesis XD
