Ahaha I remember that April Fool's joke. SE always makes it good.
I honestly thought for a while that Ayermic was putting the moves on my character. Those sly glances and devious smiles...tease.

<- The real reason Yoshi-P stressed watching all the cutscenes.
Matoya: And that should give you a notion of how sick and tired I was of those spineless wretches of the Forum. All talk and no trousers, that lot.
I am against it simply because it could create lots of drama. First, what if they decide to only make new NPCs that we could date and not known NPCs? What if they make some known NPCs into love interest but not others? Should they make all of those available to all races/gender? Or would you be fine if for example Aymeric is only into females?
Doesnt this also mean that all those that are love interests could never die? Or how would some feel if they could truly romance someone like Haurchefant, only to lose them later?
IMO its way to much potential to create much anger and disappointment. Better to leave it to fanfictions..(in my head Haurchefant is still alive!!! *sob)
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Haurchefant is as close as its going to get.
