MCH vs BRD (And why MCH need serious help)

BRD and MCH are both ranged dps, so they basically have 100% uptime on enemies, so it is understandable for them to be a tad weaker. But when comparing them to each other, one is clearly the better choice.

Based on stand alone utility AND damage according to the SSS dummies, BRD destroys MCH.

BRD has:
Party wide Crit rate +2% with 100% uptime
3% damage buff with Foe's that last 7 server tics or 21 seconds that can be reapplied approximately every 2:30 minutes
20 second 15% direct hit up every 3 minutes
A 45 second instant esuna
A 10% magic or phys vuln for 30 seconds every 3 minutes
A 15 second single target mantra(good for tanks)

MCH has:
A 5 second 10% damage down on one enemy every 90 seconds
A 5% damage up for one or all enemies for 29 seconds every 2 minutes

Then they both also have mp/tp regen and a 20% phys down for 10 seconds in cross role.

Do you see a problem here? MCH needs to do significantly more damage OR needs significantly more utility. You can't tell me this is okay when it is very clearly not.

MCH needs a lot more than a couple potency tweaks. BRD blows MCH out the water in personal DPS, raid DPS and raid Utility. This is not even questionable.

I was really surprised and impressed by how strong bard is in SB. It's a real shame for machinist to be lacking a reason to exist. Personally I think it would be cool to keep bard as the superior utility and raid dps, and bring mch personal dps ahead of bard with potency increases across the board and maybe one extra utility effect baked into one of its attacks.

They need to get rid of the crappier form of dissipation (lul blow up your turret because machinist reasons) and do something about wildfire as it's potency is around 400 or so for every cast. I personally want a missile barrage as Omega has, it'd be more Machinist than anything else they randomly slapped on for the expac.

It's a real shame for machinist to be lacking a reason to exist.

For now they exist for PvP (they are in the top classes there), but I agree it's really underwhelming to be at such low lvl in PvE.

The problem is not to be on the bottom, the problem is to feel six feet under compared to the others. That's why we talk about balancing. Not about getting superior (and the fact some immature people want to be superior to feel balanced is not an argument about real balance and what is fair or not).
