My only real problem with these FATEs is that every aspect of them relies entirely on community. Now, that's not inherently a bad thing especially with this being an MMO and it's expected that you mingle with other players from to time. However, if the community sucks, then you're screwed. It's like unless you join an active Linkshell, you have literally no information on if/when these FATEs spawn.
Here's an example from my own experience: Outfoxed has spawned in Instance 1. Tons of people were there, joined a party, etc. Afterwards, tons of people were searching for about an hour. Over the course of said hour, I start to see fewer and fewer people flying around the map, a few people leave our party, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? I get a message from an FC member "OMG SHE'S UP IN INSTANCE 2 COME QUICK 15%."
Huh?
I rush over to Instance 2 and by the time I even load in, she's already dead. But what do I see? Some of the same faces who left my party/other instance are in there like "WOOOO YAY I GOT GOLD."
Seriously?
Some of these same people had left just minutes before i got the message from my FC. However, because no one said anything (I went back and double then triple checked the chat log) and there's literally no way to tell if she spawned unless you find her or someone else tells you, I missed out on it that time and it was at that moment I decided to join a Linkshell.
Again, I don't think the communal aspect is all the way bad. In fact, I kinda like it. It's just that on those occasions where your server's community sucks, you're missing out.
Maybe if I could do it and not DC
I kinda see your point but fortunately its not the content it self its just....(Some) of ff14 community xDHere's an example from my own experience: Outfoxed has spawned in Instance 1. Unless it's prime time I need to do work, eat, clean, friends, and in general go outside and get supplies so I don't die. Likewise I sympathize for anyone with similar priorities in different time zones and work different hours.
Throw in dungeon queues, all the roulettes and I'm already spending a lot of time for a day playing a single video game.
Putting a 5-10 minute fate once, anywhere randomly in that day without any idea when it will spawn with a mount tied behind it is a very, very sure way of upsetting a good portion of the player base because of these reasons.
I agree its easy to miss it ...timers change alot too... i dont like when it go over 40h to respawn sometimes...
12 horns is enought...
Yea let's add more "Lag/DC zone" fates .. =/
Hell the server can't even handle when ixion is up, it becomes nothing but at lag show, until they either upgrade the servers so we can do fates like ixion's without lagging like hell .. i say no to anymore...
