It doesn't eat a lot. to play xiv. I quite frequently use my phones 4g to play when away from home on my laptop

however you minght wanna make sure all your back ground stuff is also disabled if using mobile data.

if your security software starts downloading new virus definitions or policy updates and stuff or windows or your other software like NVidia auto downloads updates or you have things like skype or even push email / even stuff like dropbox / one drive running, all of that can really eat your data..

so definitely worth taking a few minutes to check what you've got running and what connects to the net.

if you have a firewall might be worth checking the settings for that. my firewall is configured so that whenever I connect to my galaxy6 wifi hotspot it auomatically denies almost everything access to the internet.. but soon as I connect at home its all normal
