I did think of those but... yea... besides, even if the opportunity presented itself, doubtfully any BLM would ever remotely go out of their way to stop their DPS for the raid's sake =-=

You shouldn't add them... they haven't been used in AAR nor in HW and like you said most probably not in SB in any way ^^'
Well that's not entirely true, people choose to not use them and yes granted they are very situational but they do get their uses from time to time if what was indeed talked about was utility.
Also gives a 5% damage taken reduction on the target. But should be mentioned that the pet automatically use it on the party member the closer to it. making it a real pain to be used effectively right now.
Well, since other people already have told you what each job brings, I'll just tell you what the obvious meta party is.
PLD/DRK. AST/SCH. SAM/NIN/BRD/RDM
You could take the RDM out for a summoner, but with such a heavy physical comp, embolden will prove useful.
This comp offers both a high utility and highly offensive playstyle. Now, you could take the SCH out for the WHM, which will allow AST to go Nocturnal sect which is flat out broken to shit mitigation, and should give you the extra safety net you need. Depending on if you need LB or not, some comps may even go AST/AST, but I'd recommend AST/SCH over anything.
Pretty much this. The healers could also be AST/AST if you have voice chat to coordinate cards since AST is stupidly overpowered. You basically must have a NIN as they're also overpowered. SAM does well over 10% more DPS than a DRG and 10% more than a MNK so neither of the latter two are worth bringing. As for the casters, you can bring any of the three IMO since SMN has some raid utility in the form of Contagion/Devotion and BLM has the highest DPS. Casters are like the one thing that seems to be reasonably well balanced.
Honestly the melee, ranged, and healer balance is totally screwed up right now. MNK and DRG need buffs. WHM is terrible for single target and SCH is terrible for AoE. MCN is just terrible.
As for the tanks you can bring anything. WAR is lacking in defensive utility, but has slightly better cooldowns. A good DRK+PLD is probably slightly better than a WAR right now since they can buff each other with their utility skills and that adds up to being better than WAR's superior cooldowns.
Monks silence is so unreliable and hard to use I wouldn't bother listing it as utility. It technically exists but nobody is ever going to use it in serious content.
In theory red mage buff is average 6% because effect drop 2% every 4 second and uptime is 16.66%. Monks brotherhood have exactly same uptime and provide 5% physical damage boost and it is doing more personal damage than red mage so would it be more optimal use nin/sam/monk/bard?
