No, it is an oversight, as they said that due to the distance, Othard and Eorzea will be in different time zones. Gamerescape even confirmed it during their media tour.

Q24: The Aldenard region, where the adventures up until now have taken place, and Othard, the region including Doma, are very far apart. Will there be different time zones, similar to real life?
A24: From a lore perspective, there are time zones; however, we have Eorzean time ("ET") as the local time, so please think of ET as that area's local time when you teleport to that zone. Basically, don't worry too much about it!

I understand. And I also don't.
I just don't comprehend why this would be a difficult thing to do, I mean heck, even with rain and wind in combination the game calculates where the water goes - again really small details that aren't ever important in the big picture but they are all there!
It just boggles my mind that they clearly went the extra mile for some things and let this one slip.
I'll stop posting now.
Look, it's not difficult, it would just hurt the gameplay, even if only in a minor way, and not benefit immersion enough. So they actively decided against it, it's not a "oh yeah let's just not do that" it's a "this might cause more problems than it's worth, so not doing it will be the smarter move."
Alternatively, the world is flat.
