I think what we need is to not keep giving tanks better things. tanks already get mounts as an incentive, fair enough Healers should also get them. but we need to stop rewarding people who enjoy playing something other than just dps. currently i've been leveling both a healer and a tank just to have max level at each but i still prefer DPS. I already get penalized from having to queue for a long period of time. Your suggestion of tanks who do a dungeon first get prio as a dps is a spit in the face to be honest

I don't think the issue is rewards or the like. I think some tend to avoid healer/tank positions simply due to failing (or being lazy but I'm not one to judge on laziness, it happens to the best of us). So how would we address this? We know toxic people do exist, and plenty of friends have stated thats precisely why they never want to tank/heal for randoms.

Also to the OP, that is a terrible idea....and it doesn't solve the issue.

I know SE said that HW new classes didn't make a huge change on the queue times but SB definitely made it worse. Adding 2 highly anticipated DPS classes for one expansion was a mistake. Nerfing tank damage at the same time was ill advised it has basically encouraged Warriors who like that aspect of their class to re-roll Samurai.

    That's exactly what would happen.

As it is, on WHM, the longest queue wait is for Mainstream scenario (typically about 8 minutes), every other roulette is instant to about 3 minutes. It's always waiting for a tank, and part of that is because tanks don't like to tank some content, so it's easier to avoid that content by queuing only for content you want to play.

When I started leveling Paladin, despite having everything up to Haukke unlocked, every single time... Satasha or Tam Tara. Even on WHM... Satasha. Like, fine it's a faceroll. But there is no way for a "new tank" to not get a terrible zerg party who leveled off PotD, who rips hate off the tank with a single heal or DPS action. Like it's literately the worst thing ever to try and roll a tank now because people all learn these bad habits from PotD, or worse you get a raider healer who tries to DPS everything as fast as possible and thus rips hate off you.

It still would have happened. We don't need yet another sword-wielding tank.

What we need at some point is a tank that is easy to play regardless of the party configuration. The current tanks, for lack of a better explanation are "mitigation", "provocation", and "damage sponge", which suit different play styles, but yet DPS and Healers can rip hate off them easily until they have gear parity.

SE could also solve this by making ilevel sync to the lowest ilevel in the party. That way at least a tank with ilevel 55 equipment who is doing level 50 content is actually able to play that content without every single action by the other party members ripping hate off. The first time I tried to do any dungeon as a tank, the Healer wanted it to go faster so they just kept pulling more mobs. Stop doing that. Why would I ever want to do the 1-49 content as a new tank ever again when every experience is awful? I'll just go level it in PotD and not learn these dungeons.

It's incredibly easy to level a healer, because your gear as you level will not rip hate off a well geared tank. But a tank is forever chasing mobs around, and sometimes can't ever get that mob back since Provoke has a cooldown, and you can't just keep spamming flash after every cure.

Everyone, do yourself a favor, if you want more people to play tank, play at the pace of the tank, not the pace you want to play at. Especially healers, if you're ripping hate from the tank, stop doing what you're doing.

People lost their minds when the new swordsman class - the Dark Knight, was a tank. People have been begging for a sword-wielding DPS class since 2.0 launched, if Samurai had also been a tank there'd been so much salt.

while I love the idea of being a "good noodle", what if instead, they just allowed the "role in need" to have 2 earnable daily roulette rewards per roulette? Like, a tank does 50/60 roulette, gets their daily reward, then is allowed 1 more if they queue again as the same role. On paper, tanks/healers would essentially queue twice and allow more DPS to get their daily roulettes off. (is this a good noodle or a bad noodle?)

We are what 8 days out from official launch? Give it time. The dps queues will normalize. If you recall in HW the dps queues got pretty short with all the tanks and healers running about then went back to normal. Already seen many tanks and healers bemoaning the queue time for dps and talking about who they switch back to heals/tank once the new classes are leveled.

Agree more with the idea of increasing the "Adventurer in Need" bonus. It's not an elegant solution, but I'd like to see a tier of bonuses -- tier 1 gets more of a bonus than tier 2. Yeah, that will pretty obviously work out to rewarding tanks more than healers, but at least healers will get something.

Honestly, playing a tank is not that fun right now. I see no issue with giving them more incentive.

(But also: yes to healer mounts. Something more than a unicorn would be nice!)

How about instead of incentives in duty finder (which we already have in roulettes), we got incentives in pre formed parties. If tanks and healers were encouraged to preform, with say a bonus per dungeon if they do, that might work for awhile.
