Need Help with Lvl 35 Summoner Class

This is the fight where I have to beat Titan-Egi. It is called "Austerities of Earth." I can get past the first phrase where I beat Titan. Not the Dark Summoner phrase though.

I am level 35 and my equipment is all in the 30s. I have tried every type of pet I have and so far Topaz Carbuncle seems the best. However, I do such low damage, the Dark Summoner's and his Ifrit-Egi health only went down 10% in 8 minutes of fighting. I am constantly having to heal the NPC healer. She heals my pet(barely) but never heals herself and stands in all the AOEs. I can get both enemies off of her, but she still is constantly dying. I also sometimes have to heal my pet because sustain is gone(which I think is really stupid and we need it back.)

Any tips?

Is your Topaz carbuncle (I assume you mean Titan Egi) keeping hate from them both? What are you doing on DPS and are you focusing on the Summoner?

Well I do not have Titan-Egi yet because this is the quest to get him, so I am using Topaz. And he is keeping aggro from both most of the time. I am putting up all DOTs I have(which are 2: Miasma and Bio2) and then using Ruin while keeping DOTS up. I am focusing on the Dark Summoner and his HP is not going down at all. I then tried focusing on his Ifrit-Egi, and he had about the same health.

Yeah sorry I'm confused with the egis and abilities available for that level and looking at my own action list isn't too helpful. Do you have Fester yet? I guess all you can do DPS wise is keep Miasma and Bio II up and Fester (assuming you have it) as often as possible. I don't know if it's possible to attack from different side than NPC healer so that she won't get hit by possible frontal AoEs. I think you can just ignore the Ifrit egi. You also don't have to take the enemy Summoner to 0% HP to beat the duty.

You can Google a couple of videos of people doing the fight 4 years ago. The basics should be the same. The healer can hold off against the summon so you can focus on the summoner. This lets you use Ifrit or Emerald for more damage. Stand far away from the healer so they don't get hit with the AOEs, keep Bio and Miasma up, use Energy Drain for some extra damage, heal yourself as needed.

That is weird because everytime I tried it, the healer died very quickly to the summon. She would not heal herself and kept dying in a minute. I had all aggro from the summoner and she did not get in any AOEs the firts time.

I happen to have a level 34 summoner on Coeurl. When I get off work I'll go level her up and give it a go. I don't recall having any issues a few years ago on my main, but for all I know the changes they've made with classes coulda had some impact on the earlier duties, including the NPCs for whatever reason.

I'll record it too - will let you know if anything odd comes up.

I just did the 50 quest and I can say, after the changes, it is near impossible to do the summoner quests with how they gimped us. the level 50 quest I had to just spam my instant DoT and Ruin II since it's instant and just kite all over the place. no casting avail after titan-egi fell like a brick in about 20 seconds.

I didn't really know what was going on or what to expect, so it's not exactly smooth or ideal or anything like that. You already got through the first part of the fight, so moving onto the second... (Starts at 3:25)

I started with Topaz up cause of the first phase and eventually said to heck with it, bringing out Ifrit. Once I did this the Summoner focussed on me and started spamming AoEs or light healing. I don't know if that's because I got him to a certain percentage or he's coded to just AoE you if you have aggro. Perhaps it's because he's using Ifrit and I pulled out Ifrit, too.

In retrospect, that might be the big difference. He's doing a lot of damage to topaz for you to keep up with on top of healing your friendly neighborhood conjurer, but if he's AoEing you nonstop it's basically 0 damage from him.

I kept an eye on Y'mhitra and did a good chunk of healing on her to be safe while staying away so the AoEs didn't target her. I also positioned myself so Ifrit wasn't getting hit by a lot of them either. Y'mhitra did stoneskin me and herself a few times in the fight, but it didn't seem necessary. I know she cast cure at least once in the first phase when Topaz got low, but in my experience many Realm-Reborn NPCs aren't coded to start looking for healing targets early enough (I think they wait till 50%, like a chocobo for choco cure in free stance), and aren't coded to spam them if necessary / have a cooldown, so they're really bad at healing multiple targets all getting low. I don't trust them, and try not to rely on them if I have any other option.

I suggest trying to position yourself so the AoEs from the summoner don't hit your egi or Y'mhitra. I'm not sure if starting out with Topaz was a good idea or not, but he happened to tank 1000 damage or so before I got rid of him, so you might be able to consider that free HP you don't have to think about. Feels like I just sort of balanced healing Y'mhitra every so often, kept DoTs on the summoner, nuked now and then and danced around his casts.
