As for the compatibility issues, I didn't want mess with any of my parts atm, I just want a card pop into my existing system and go. I'm not going to be able to afford a card that would bottleneck my cpu either.
There honestly shouldn't be any compatibility issue upgrading from a gtx 660 to one of the newer 10 series. Basically the entire gtx 10 series is leaps and bounds above their previous older counterparts and use less energy too. If you check the benchmark thread that's buried somewhere, there are a number of people with the 1050ti and 1060 posting decent scores.

The biggest compatibility issue I could see with the 1060 or 1070 would be the PSU. However, if other specs are going to bottleneck the GPU, is it worth the money?

As for the 1050TI, it is really an excellent card for ~$150 USD.

    http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare...-Ti/3165vs3649 - For reference.

It seems to me the 1050Ti is SLIGHTLY worse in benchmarks, and by slightly I mean literally not even noticeably. however, in gaming the 1050Ti performs better in nearly every situation, CS:GO being the only exception. Overall, the 1050Ti is a much better value, and I believe it consumes less power. It is also a small card, mini form factor, so it will fit in nearly any case. After looking at Nvidia's site, the 1050Ti has a TDW of 75W vs 120W for the 960, meaning much lower power consumption and thus heat. Addtionally, the 1050Ti has 4GB of VRAM which is great for preventing screen lag as well as supporting multi monitor set ups and multi tasking.

TL;DR - The 1050Ti is a great value for the price, and while slightly less powerful overall than the 960, it performs better in most games due to newer architecture. The 1050Ti is the better value. At 1080p, it should easily handle FFXIV at virtually any settings.

It looks like the gtx 1050 ti would not only cost less but perform better then the 960.
Unfortunately I can't seem to find the model I would need for my system.
There is no rush so I will just have to shop around or wait till one pops up.
    Thanks for the input.

Also $300 for a 960 is way too much. I don't know what country you're in, but if you in US or Canada that is about twice as much as it should be.

I looked up both US & Canada's Newegg sites real quick and found these:

    US
    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...16&ignorebbr=1

    CA
    https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...90&ignorebbr=1

I recomend GTX1060. I'm getting 70+ FPS in busy areas and 100+ in dungeons

I didn't want to mention my specs simply because I didn't want to clog the post with unnecessary info, I was purely looking for a gpu comparison. The gtx 1060 and 1070 shouldn't be an issue for my psu since I believe they use the same amount of power as the 660 but I didn't really look into them as I can't get them anyways. It's more of a sizing and fan issue I'm dealing with and no I don't want to get a new case or motherboard.

Anyways you were a big help.
    Thanks for the time.

Ironically all the new gtx 960 on the site you linked not including the one on sale are over $300. Unless you mean the refurbished ones then yes you can get those cheaper.

Edit: The gtx 1050 ti seams to perform a bit better also yes it is a lot cheap then the 960.

Oh yea. There are sellers other than Newegg itself on their site now. Newegg themselves only sells the refurb 960's. 1050ti is the way to go over the two anyway .

Definitely. I wasn't sure about the 1050 so I didn't really look into it at first but it is a much better card. It's a lot easier on my wallet too.

Sure thing. Glad I could help.

If sizing/fans are an issue, the 1050Ti should be an incredible card since it's a mini form factor and stays quite cool with low power consumption. Good luck!
