I can attest that I've seen Aussie FCs on Behemoth when playing on one of my alts. So, I know they exist at least.

Kujata has English players and FCs too. It's on the same data-centre as Tonberry so you have shared Party Finder. Plenty of people coming too, due to Kujata being a designated server.

Aussie that plays on Behemoth here, ping difference between JP and NA is now like 20ms with the new Data Centre (from Melbourne). Just depends if you want to deal with JP only PF groups and a possible language barrier as opposed to majority of the Data Centre speaking English.

Had a friend in New Zealand, she tested her ping on Toonberry and on an NA server.
NA server gave her way better ping than toonberry.
Kiwi on behemoth here, we ping lower to NA servers now.

Aussie originally from Tonberry but moved to Behemoth due to the language barrier. The world itself is a lot less active during peak Australian time but the duty finder is basically fine. If you play during Australian mornings its peak time in the US so on weekends you can catch up on a lot of things.Aussie that plays on Behemoth here, ping difference between JP and NA is now like 20ms with the new Data Centre (from Melbourne). Regarding the duty finder its almost instant queue for tanks, healers around 5 mins or less and DPS 10-20 mins for queues such as levelling.
I have tried to like being on Tonberry but in the end the language barrier was too much and decided to remain on Behemoth. Its good being able to understand what people are saying in party/alliance chat.

Since the US servers moved there is no longer much difference between JP and NA data centres for most Australians. I've always had a spotty connection to the JP servers, regular large lag spikes - but I know others who never had an issue with that. There are a fair number of Australians on a few NA servers Faerie and Siren I know for sure, and there is little to no language barrier.
I know plenty of Australian players who happily use the auto translate function to run content with JP language players but I always found it clumsy at best. Joining English only duty finder content on the JP data centre tends to mean long queues at least during the week - but if most of your gaming is on the weekends then you shouldn't have too many issues.

Kujata and Aegis are both high population English speaking servers on the Japanese date centre. Kujata especially, Tonberry is pretty bad anyway.
