Best servers for Australians?

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question and I wasn't sure where was the right place to post this so I've posted here... .anyway...

I am wondering what server should an Australian join? I am currently on NA Leviathan but was wondering if there is a specific server for Australians or what the large majority of my fellow Aussies play on?

Or you could just join the Elemental datacentre and be grouped with English players from Tonberry in duties and Party Finder.

It depends on your priorities, really. Like Kaos Keith said, many AUS/OCE/SEA players dogpiled onto Tonberry (JP datacenter). As a result, this is more likely to have an active primetime, but is popular enough that it may be hard to get onto (not sure about that tho).
The main alternative, for people who want an entirely EN player base, is Behemoth over on NA datacenter. Between the two continents ping/latency makes no difference, so your choice is mainly chat language versus world activity.

I think Tonberry is locked. Since the NA servers are located in Cali now, you might want to test a trial character on NA and JP to see which gives you a better connection these days.

Had a friend in New Zealand, she tested her ping on Toonberry and on an NA server.
NA server gave her way better ping than toonberry.

Kiwi on behemoth here, we ping lower to NA servers now.

As said Tonberry is the unofficial Australian/NZ/Oceanic server, unfortunately, because of that SE has now classed it as a 'congested' server meaning all character transfers and new character creation is locked on it, so sadly that is no longer an option for the foreseeable future I'm afraid.

Time-zone and geography wise for us Aussies another JP server is (on paper at least) the best option for an Australian player, but there is the possible issue of language difficulties, although a lot of JP players can read and write English reasonable enough (I used to play on Ridill, a JP server, and I made a number of JP friends there who wrote and read English very well).

Your best bet really is just find what server is available at this stage and see how suitable it is for you.

Thanks for the help everyone. I suppose my main concern is finding a server which is active at reasonable hours for Australia. Sucks that Tonberry is closed, Guess I might try my luck on a JP server.
