I'm all for removing the restrictions. I've made some nice outfits I can't wear because they use tank gauntlets and sabatons or they use DoW thighboots. I'd kill to use the Oschon's Sollerets of Aiming on my healer because they look so good![]()

And that could and should have been solved with a STAT check, not a gear restriction. You could even have left the damn accessories unlocked with that AND it would have better reflected the different value between left side and right side, as left side gives more stats. And they could have fixed the issue of the weapon not being considered proportional to its value as well in the process.
But no... they always shoot for the dumbest solution possible >_>
Hnnngh...

I too am all for removing the restrictions... maybe in pvp they need to show exactly the armour worn but in pve it shouldn't matter...
there are plenty of options for tanks outside the options you listed, you are just not looking. HW added a good amount of medium/light armor styles for tank gear during the leveling process. Plus ARR dungeons have "DoW" set gear tanks can wear.
Totorak has a few med armor DoW as does halitali

In PVP it matters even less because it's so easy to see what people are from their names alone. If you're identifying people by the random glamours they're wearing you're probably already dead. The number of purists who go into a cold sweat at the idea of casters wearing armour or tanks wearing cloth must have traumatic experiences every day since both are possible anyway, just not for most sets.
Down with glamour restrictions!

Dunno if it was said already, but this exact thing existed in ARR's PVP. Your glamour would get stripped when you went into PVP and you would appear in your actual gear.
No. I'm going to "wear" whatever the current expansion NIN AF is from start to finish and you're going to watch me do it, whether you like it or not!

While I'd be perfectly willing to accept it as a compromise, a toggle for 'no-fun mode' where all glamours were hidden for players who hate glamour means a lot of people would be seeing me wandering around in hideous combinations of clipping, miscoloured, overly-revealing nonsense
I'd rather it just replaced all your clothes with generic job gear if that is the only alternative.
Still traumatised from my ARR levelling experience with WHM AF pants and the Coliseum Shawl. Never forget.

The most logical solution to this would be to make glamours restricted by level only (outside of glamouring weapons into different weapon types. i.e. WHM weapon into DRG weapon.) Let everyone glamour every piece of gear regardless of whether they can wear it as their current job so long as they have the requisite level to do so. I suppose you could make an argument for removing the level restriction as well, but I feel like you should at least have to earn the ability to use a glamour to some degree outside of buying said piece of gear and using a prism.
In my opinion, anything outside of weapon, artificial and racial gear should be unlocked, period.
