Hehe, you missunderstood, Neasa is against retarded OP, who is bitching about people caring about server population.Oh, wow the trolls or out again? Why is everyone trolling on these forums? This is being brought up because those of us that have low population servers would like to play with other players. I personally hope I don't have to play with a childish person like yourself if the servers do merge or we are given the option to character tranfer. You don't have to agree with what people want but at least have an intelligent constructive post. Or are you just trying to get your post count up?

I think it has little bearing on the outcome of 2.0, but 2.0 is over a year away, and I'd like to know if I'm going to be playing in a world devoid of other players. There's not much sense in me subbing to a game with such a low population when one of the main reasons I play MMO's is to play and meet a lot of different people.
Of course, instead of thinking about it for a bit, you could immedeatly jump to the conclusion that people who are interested in sub numbers are looking for "ammunition."

I want to lag as soon as I get near a city, that's why.

I guess one legitimate concern would be with the low numbers, which everyone knew was low already, how will things be after the subscription rolls around? From my perspective receptivity of the patch has been relatively low so far, so even people who were set on subscribing are now reconsidering.I mean, does it REALLY matter?
Or are you just trying to prove something?
Even if the game has 4k people total, who cares?
2.0 is still coming out weather 5 people or 5 million are playing. So your "discovering of the real numbers behind how many people are playing" isn't doing anything except making yourself feel like you discovered something amazing that will change the course of the game. But it wont.
Just play.

I can't speak for the others, but for myself, I sorely notice the change in the ingame population. When you see only the same players run by you everytime you play, all of them living in the bubble that is their hardcore endgame linkshell, and close to no new blood entering the game...
Well, it simply doesn't feel like the ffxiv it used to be, despite all the flaws that was a fact back then. The game has improved so much by now, that the development itself promises nothing but a bright future for the game. But with no players left to play with, it all feels... empty.
And of course one could easily move on to another mmo, but the fact is, I like this game! I like this fictive world, its lore, its music etc. And I liked the experiences I had months back with fellow players. And with so much potential being inserted into this game with every patch, I really want to experience it again.
That is why I care so much, why I really want the game to be more popular than it currently is, and why I won't leave it behind for another mmo just like that.
have fun playing an online game alone, lol.I mean, does it REALLY matter?

go try and fight ifrit/moogle/sh/dh/anyendgamecontent with no party.
game population is not growing. we see everyday the same players. no problem with that now, but what's going to happen when this game is not free anymore and ppl will start quitting?
i mean, nothing wrong in pay for play, but give us some content before.

It doesn't make anyone feel that they discovered anything special, it just makes people who play on low populated server worry that once they start charging, there will be less people to play with until the release of V2.0. I agree it won't change the course of the game, but bitching about the low population will surely urge the dev to implant server switch/merge to keep players happy and around. Ripple effect can be devastating you know. 1 player who quits can becomes 2, then 2 can becomes 4 and so on... This on a low populated server, even if SE wasn't stopping the F2P, can make peak time go from 500 people to just 300 or worse. With P2P coming, less people playing on low populated servers is inevitable.

We all understand that a healthy and active population is a vital component to games like this, and I'm sure SE also understands this. There are enough people playing even on my server (the low population Saronia) to make the world feel alive and allow the social components (grouping, markets, etc.) to exist, so why worry about specific numbers and what might happen in the future? That can make for a very unhappy life--on any front. So for me? I'm going to let SE worry about all that (cos that's their job, yeah?) and continue to enjoy the game now (cos that's my "job").![]()

Unlike most of the obnoxious people here seem to think, I personally want more people on servers so you don't have to shout for 3 hours to find someone who wants to do something. That's only going to get worse when the charging starts. I don't play FFXIV because I think it's a single player game :/ If I wanted single player I'd load skyrim.
