I had something similar to this today.....a RDM kept using Erase on the bomb at....ahhhhh Gods, forgot the dungeon.....the museum one in Azys....one of the hard modes in 3.0.

I just rescued him while casting LB. Someone wasn't happy. And I got a chuckle.

If one sees healer is not healing you why not? it saves them having to do it i guess, even if it is suppose to be their job.
Vercure only takes seconds to do...

Also Raise is not part of the rotation either and yet past few days i have needed to use countless times and saved group from wipes :/

That's all great, but it doesn't relate to anything I actually said about using Vercure incorrectly.

I get the sentiment, I've only used Vercure in situations that deemed it necessary...ie healer is too taxed and you need an emergency heal...your about to KO..another party member does etc.

Similar to Verraise I only use it when healers can't/aren't able to. Both have been quite useful in some situations though. But that's it, situational, not something to place in your "rotation".

It's Red Mage not Black Mage. They can cure sometimes dude.

If you know a Red Mage who suffers from an irrational compulsion to stop their DPS rotation to cast Vercure whenever they take a hit or are one yourself, please be advised that there is a better way to play.

Is there a healer in your party? Do they not suck? Are you not in an emergency situation and/or helping said healer recover from an accident? Then rejoice, for you can stop wasting time and resources on superfluous actions!

Remembering that, in group play, Vercure is a tool for emergency utility or, depending your group composition, specific mechanics will greatly enhance not only your own performance as a RDM, but also others' enjoyment and appreciation of your contribution to the group.

Curemage in the same sense as icemage, yeah that's dumb but we all already know that so not sure what we're supposed to talk about...

RDM using a vercure now and again because they don't have 100% confidence in a total stranger, meh, whatever...

- RDMs do have rotations; it just happens that they are proc and priority-based.

- There are perfectly good ways to use Vercure; this thread was about players who are the RDM equivalent of the Ice Mage or the Physick Arcanist.

RDM have a priority-based casting system, yes. It's not 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3 though, so technically speaking we don't use the term "rotation" ...

As for "where the heck are those darn RDM learning this stuff?" -- it's from the single-player duties, FATEs, and in-general world encounters on the way to level 60-70 and SB content. You'd be surprised how many times there is a need for a heal when there isn't a healer around. Do that for, oh, 16 levels, and it becomes ingrained.

Unless the RDM is trying to be a healer, it isn't really the same thing as an Ice Mage. And Physick Arcanists (really?) become Scholars at level 30, when they can queue as healers.

No, I get what you're saying. Arcanists were doing the same thing, heck even helping me heal. It will all be over soon.
