Considering that there are already RDMs out there that are making playstyle choices of melee only RDM or caster only RDM, I'm not really surprised that people are gimping themselves because they want to try to be unique by playing a support RDM. I don't know where the enjoyment comes from of intentionally gimping yourself because you want to be a unique snowflake, it's truly mind-boggling.The main point is that it doesn't help at all unless you are patching up an actual emergency.
I have to say I'm surprised at the responses thus far. I rather thought it was going to be more "oh yeah, those silly RDMs, why do they keep trying to heal when they should be DPSing," but I guess people really like their Vercure.
The only times i tend to use Vercure is when i happen to notice the healer struggling to keep the tank going during a large mob pull, or something seems to be hitting the tank particularly hard an the healer might not be fast enough to keep him up, so i use 1 or 2 an then go back to dpsing. Would rather see the party continue than having to come back from wiping because of something unexpected. Only takes a couple seconds to cast an you can make the dps up easy enough.
its not ever that im Vercuring just to do it, although i cant say much for other RDMs if thats the problem your having lol

Is that really a problem? Are you failling DPS checks content because of vercure?
I had to cast lots of vercures in a few expert dungeons already due to healers who couldn't keep up the tank much less myself and the other dps during non avoidable aoe dmg.
Not sure if its a healer issue or a tank one...
IMO this falls under the realm of micromanagement. If your groups are passing DPS checks, and everything else is fine, then there is no reason to try and micromanage other peepz and their chose rotations. On the flip side there's honestly nothing wrong with giving some honest advice to the RDM who may happen to think that their responsible for healing themselves in a group. Let them know that you have a healer handy so they don't have to do that stuff like they possible do solo. Many new players may not realize that most healers are over-capable of healing most content.
I did enjoy the humor of the OP thoughbest way to bring a point up IMO.

Not that it really matters, but Second Wind isn't just a Melee DPS option. It's a Physical DPS option.
I do think it's pretty neat when a RDM tosses out a Vercure when it's needed. I do also know from healing in many MMOs over the years, it's likely not needed a lot of time and is more of a "lack-of-confidence" in the healer for whatever reason. Guess it doesn't really hurt anything, though.

Boss becomes invulnerable because ~cinematic~.
I have no procs up.
vercure right before the boss becomes targetable.
Instant verwhatever + ogcd for a faster reengage. '3'
~sigh~
I'd rather take the healer spot in dungeons if there is a WHM, considering their aoe dps far exceeds ours
