Vercure is not part of your rotation.

If you know a Red Mage who suffers from an irrational compulsion to stop their DPS rotation to cast Vercure whenever they take a hit or are one yourself, please be advised that there is a better way to play.

Is there a healer in your party? Do they not suck? Are you not in an emergency situation and/or helping said healer recover from an accident? Then rejoice, for you can stop wasting time and resources on superfluous actions!

Remembering that, in group play, Vercure is a tool for emergency utility or, depending your group composition, specific mechanics will greatly enhance not only your own performance as a RDM, but also others' enjoyment and appreciation of your contribution to the group.

In general, I agree. Though I will say that out of habit from an agreement with my normal healer, if I chose to stand in an AOE, I will heal myself afterwards. Doesn't happen often, but if the red mage does the damage to themselves, then seeing them cast a self-heal shouldn't be an issue, kind of like a melee popping second wind after taking damage.

Vercure is NOT part of your rotation in the same way that Second Wind or Bloodbath aren't part of a Melee DPS rotation. You use it when you mess up because your healer usually has better people to heal than a person who sits in poop and stinks of poop.

Considering I'm often in said poop, whether by accident or by stupidity, I'd prefer healers not to contract my poop.

also you can then dualcast Verthunder/Veraero after you clean yourself of poop but who cares about that right

I don't know what could ever have given you that impression; it thrills me to watch different players make the same mistakes repeatedly over the course of days.

In slightly more seriousness, it just seems worse because so many players are playing RDM since it's a new Job.

A good healer will already be spending a GCD, MP, or an ability to patch up that player, so now two players are fixing one boo-boo. If you are the RDM and you have a standing agreement with your healer that you will take care of yourself for incidental mechanics, that's another matter, but if I were the healer I would still prefer that you continue attacking. Second Wind is different because it's oGCD; even if the Vercure happens to coincide with a Dualcast proc, it still trips the GCD, so ideally it shouldn't be used at all unless truly necessary.

If it helps the group, what's the problem? Using a Vercure as opposed to verWhichever isn't going to just cause catastrophic failure, just make the healer's life a little easier.

It's a PSA to make yourself aware of situations where you can save the day and the difference of wasting GCD's.

The main point is that it doesn't help at all unless you are patching up an actual emergency.

I have to say I'm surprised at the responses thus far. I rather thought it was going to be more "oh yeah, those silly RDMs, why do they keep trying to heal when they should be DPSing," but I guess people really like their Vercure.

It's definitely not a part of my rotation however I have used it during sticky moments, esp when I have made a boo boo and stood in the bad and a little too far from healer, it's also great for solo content and survivability.
