Actually, it won't make tanks that squishy. First, you are losing about 10k from not wearing vit accessories so you may lose say 5-6k HP. You should still remain above the 40k mark if this happened. Second, there are tanks that are ex primals in full str gear; granted it requires the tank to know proper mitigation rotations and be able to mitigate through the tank busters more carefully as to not put too much strain on the healer. So splitting the vit on tank accessories won't necessary make it so that tanks are so squishy that they need to adjust how they develop content; at most it would just make tanks need to know how to use their cooldowns better which isn't really a bad thing.

I don't think tanks were changed over to STR because of the changes to weakness. I think it was changed because VIT is the only main stat that affects something other than damage, namely your max HP. Scaling tank damage on VIT makes it harder to tweak tank HP/tank DPS independently of each other.The new weakness penalty imposed by dying is -25%/-50% to STR/DEX/MND/INT. This limits damage dealt and HP healed, while keeping HP and MP values intact (previously was a 30% penalty to both, which made surviving mechanics after raising from a death, exceedingly hard). Since the new changes, tanks' damage is calculated with STR in mind, so that when tanks die, they incur the same damage penalty as DPS jobs do.

There are stats called Attack Power, Magic Attack Power and Healing Power.
Make weakness affect those instead.
After all, back in 3.x, Berserk didn't suddenly increase your HP...

I'msurprised no one tried just increase the scaling rate of STR to DMG to over 1:1 (for the record this would fix nothing and break more, theyd just use i270 STR accs for pure DPS not enmity).
Still waiting to chime in on if tank enmity is really that bad atm, still working on my first tank, and tbh i can hold off SAM/RDM with barely 2 start up uses of my enmity gen combo. But Im not 70 yet so well see.
Also buffing Tanks because DPS just love sucking at the other 80% or so of their job, doesnt exactly sound great either. Im pretty sure I play the one of the more support heavy SAMs around...
