    ARR ending not satisfying anymore

After a few years that I have been absent from the game, I wanted to come back and enjoy the heavy story driven game that enjoyed back when ARR came out. Playing through the content has been satisfying enough and today I managed to finish the ARR MSQ line. What bothered me though was that at the last 2 dungeons, if I wanted to watch the cutscenes, I could not participate in the fights and vice versa. I know that there are options to watch the cutscenes later but that kinda defeats the purpose of why they were implemented in a MSQ dungeon. Also I do know that people that join the duty finder for MSQ dungeons they just wanna deal with them as fast as possible but again to someone who wants to enjoy the game and the story it kinda sucks. So in the end this kinda my rant about the earlier content. If I could suggest anything that would be to slow down the pace with people watching the cutscenes but increase the rewards for people joining the duty finder or make the party smaller.

This is why they don't do it that way anymore. They can't go back and change the way those dungeons were done, it's just going to have to be something you accept.

These can easily be run unsynced with smaller parties, so you can go in with a high level friend and watch the scenes to your heart's content.

It's unfortunately just the way it is and there isn't really anything they can do about it anymore without pissing off some other crowd. They at least learned from their "mistake" here and made no future dungeons nearly as cutscene heavy (they also notably never used the 8-man dungeon setup again; final storyline dungeons of both 3.0 and 4.0 are both 4-mans, with the 8-mans just being left to trials).

As it is, the only real way you can get the intended "full" experience in these two dungeons anymore is by making an appropriate PF/FC/friends/whatever group that agrees to take it easy and let you run through it at a normal pace.

The best way you can probably do the old MSQ dungeons for the ARR stuff is to gather up a few friends that have 60+ characters and go into the dungeon with them with the restrictions unlocked (i think it's an undersized party option).

It's not great to have to resort to it.. but it's probably the best option.

i will never understand why players choose to excuse pretty rude behavior. I don't care if people watch cs, and I'm more then willing to wait. CM and prae are fun and the build up is pretty good. In other mmos, most people put new players first to make them feel welcome. Heck not speed running these nets you some good exp on top of the msq bonus.

Should never excuse rude behavior, nor promote it. Should focus on giving new players a good time as this can make people quit, some players play mmo to join a community. The way people act in these dungeons can turn people off.

My and my gf ran this not long ago and there was a few new people. My gf was the tank, me as my smn. We asked to do it legitimately for the exp, yet no one replied the other tank Dc'ed due to bad connection so my g/f pulled. both healer ran past while some stayed to kill the mobs. Only one person spoke up about a speed run and was trying to enforce it. Me and her died, and was scoffed at.

the new players were not that happy.

Idm speed running it if majority rules, and it is communicated. But just plain forcing it, and making rude comments isn't the way to go about it.

What is wrong with putting new players first? Whats wrong with showing them how fun the community can be, or how welcoming?

At least communicate to new players how the dungeon is run before hand. I've seen this thread pop up, roughly 30+ times since the release of ff14. And all people do is give rude remarks. Or excuse rude remarks. You would think at this point, the Novice network, LS or FC would warn new players before doing these 2 dungeons.

these 2 dungeons are a new players first taste in 8 man content. It can be daunting from their perspective and they don't know what to do and when you have a few players being rude to you, for some unknown reason, it can leave a sour taste in your mouth.

Remember new players do not know you, they do not know you may have ran this 1000 times they may not know how much/long the cs are. Acting like they should, is a bit rude.

Also never assume you are the majority, one argument I think is getting old is the "what about the 7 other players" you can't speak on the behalf "7 other players" just yourself. I've seen runs, with 5 new players and 3 vets. 2 just happen to be the tanks and were enforcing a speed run.

Anyway that is just my 2 gil. Please read in full not just segment this post, and try to comment on each part. I'm not forcing people to do anything, nor do I.

idm speed running it, idm letting new players get a full experience. I just put new players first as they only get their "first time" and I rather it be enjoyable experience to let them have their fun, and get them pumped for a good mmo and a cool community.

Just create a party finder group "Help me finish 2.0 MSQ and let me watch cutscenes" Might take a short while wait, but someone will join & help. There's a pretty good community out there hidden among the early hunt pulling scum, and DPS meter epeen strokers.

If you were on Aether I'd offer to unsync it with you and wait for you (or maybe even rewatch the cutscenes myself, it's been a while since I've been in there).

All you really need is one or two people at 60 with at least basic sixty gear to run those two dungeons; the fights will still be mildly challenging, even. Why not ask a friend or on the novice network if you have access to it?

    .
Of course it can, but can you blame those who are in there to complete their dailies? It's unfair for them to have to wait as well, nobody wins in this situation. I was pretty annoyed how it was implemented...however this is the only time we have to go through that. Heavensward and Stormblood have fixed those problems from occurring again.
