As much as I still think this is not the way it should've gone, and the timing hurts EU crowds in particular (yeah yeah it's an NA server, I know, still), the fact that things HAVE gotten considerably better since this was implemented makes me wonder - exactly how many people, basically, just logged in and never logged out since the very start of Stormblood...?

doesn't matter that it's NA or not.As much as I still think this is not the way it should've gone, and the timing hurts EU crowds in particular (yeah yeah it's an NA server, I know, still), the fact that things HAVE gotten considerably better since this was implemented makes me wonder - exactly how many people, basically, just logged in and never logged out since the very start of Stormblood...?
A lot of Europeans have been on the same servers since even 1.0..
my server was saronia when I started. later merged with lindbulm to become sargatanas..
Expecting those players to simply cut any connections and friendships they've made since then and hop to an EU data centre is simply Ludicrous given this is an MMO and social conections are A core part of what keeps people playing....
I've got friends on sargatanas that I played XI with for best part of a decade. and friends I met way back in 1.0 when ALL the servers where in japan..
Being NA doesn't make the slightest bit of difference...
the reset could be 11am-12pm EST and not impact half as many people. it wouldn't be in the EU prime hours or the US prime hours....

The reset also wouldn't be very effective at all. It's still early enough in the day that players could login after the reset and afk. Then the queues would still be 2-3 hours long.
After the reset yesterday, the worst queues seemed to only be 1.5 hours long. That's a noticeable difference for those experiencing 3-4 hour queues. You might as well have done no reset at all cause then it would have made not one difference.

Don't see the hate, this was a good idea.

Maybe perma-ban afk-exploiters. They are the biggest issue with the congestion in the large servers. Then the auto-log off can be dropped.

Hello to those coming though this thread looking at the negative reactions.
i hope your having a good day, know your a good person :3
thats all have a good day and have fun in ffxiv,
that aside i like i can log in now :3
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun
Well if this is good for the really big servers maybe just reset them each day? I just see no reason to do this for even the smaller ones..
And about 10 minutes of time: I came back from lunch and missed the announcement, queued up for the last story trial which took never longer than 9-10 minutes to pop as a DD and went into this. 15 minutes before the kick we got the message..we were a good team and would have done it on the next try but we had no time for it left. So after that 10 minutes waiting, some more minutes waiting to get back in (where there was no queue before that) and then I queued up for it again..and suddenly the waiting time was already over 30+ minutes and in the end I waited around 40 minutes before I got in. Without the forced kick I would have finished the fight a whole hour earlier thus this 10 minutes went down to nearly 60 minutes of lost time..thankfully I have enough time at my hands right now but others might not and thus they are forced to do it on another day.
Ditto. 22 person queue on Balmung and was logged in within just a few minutes. It's good to actually be enjoying and playing the game again. Thank you for implementing simultaneous logout measures.
For every one person in this thread complaining about how this lowers their game experience (You poor things, how do you manage to live through each day?) there are countless more on congested worlds now able to log in. Huff and puff all you want, this temporary measure made the game accessible for far more players than it did inconveniencing the few precious flowers here on the forums. Square Enix can see that, and all the hyperbole in here will amount to naught - the forums are very vocal minority. Thanks SE!
