    I've worked in the IT field since the 1980s. If you really believe that nothing ever goes wrong with application rollouts, or unexpected things happen that require more than "shove more servers at the problem", you have no clue.

    It has nothing to do about being a sheep or even if you pay a service you agreed to the ToS so they have every right to being able to bring down the servers if they choose to. Even the fact that people afking to bypass the auto-kick function is against the ToS.

    5. INTERRUPTION TO THE SERVICE
    From time to time, in order to provide our customers with the optimal gaming experience, it is necessary for Square Enix to conduct routine maintenance on the computers and/or servers that support the Game. During these times, access to the Game or support services may be interrupted. Access may also be temporarily suspended in whole or in part, without notice, due to emergency repairs, fire, flood, explosion, war, strike, embargo, governmental action or failure to act, the act of any civil or military authority, act of God, or by any other causes beyond Square Enix's control, or any other reasons for which Square Enix, in its sole discretion, deems that temporary suspension is necessary. You acknowledge that disruptions of service may occur and waive any causes of action against Square Enix in any way arising from or related to any such disruptions of service.

    What a bunch of silly talk. So because people aren't getting their panties in a twist over some minor downtime, we are now moronic sheep? Grow up, seriously. This has all been pretty normal for any major MMO expansion/launch. Downtime is going to happen, and is written directly into the ToS. Things won't be smooth sailing for probably a month.

    To add, of course I'd like to see things be handled differently - like for starters, have the resets affect only the necessary servers. However, there very well may be a reason why SE is needing to reset ALL servers. Perhaps there is some truth to overburdened servers affecting others in the data centers, etc. We will never know their exact reasoning for everything, but lets all try and keep a level head and have some patience.

    SE needs to stop being lazy and just 90002 the AFKers. They do it to all the active players, just apply that to the AFKers and problem solved. You can't bypass that shit.

    Eh, its a pretty poor fix to what amounts to having a lack of server space. If servers are so congested, why only make 1 extra server? Make multiple for NA, EU, JP. Get more server space, it's obvious the game needs it. Now the people who are actually doing stuff while you force them out have to stop what they are doing, wait for the game to come back up, then wait in a que. Which is now overloaded due to everyone logging back in. I don't care if it is "only" 10 minutes, it is still a waste of time due to a poorly implemented fix for an easily solved problem (more server space).

    Pretty sure these bypasses have been in since ARR launch and were used again at HW launch. I dunno why they didn't just fix the bypasses.

    I remember a car manufacturer a few years back, which one escapes me, having issues with brakes. Imagine if, instead of fixing the actual issue, they just removed the brake pedal and called it a day.

    Aside from this move being an illogical one, I don't know why all servers are being thrown off when it's just one or two servers causing the problem.

    Honestly, this isn't even really a fix. Since it appears they're doing this at the same time every day once a day, all the AFK'ers need to do is remote connect to their PC, re-login and go AFK again. They will proceed to clog up the system until the following day when they repeat the process.

    If SE really wants to "Fix" the issue they need to restructure their AFK timer.

    It's also pretty garbage that it's being implemented on servers that don't need it. Even Gilgamesh really isn't that bad anymore. Max I've seen is a few hundred at peak times since early access ended.

    It is not just Balmung. Even Omega is having long login queues. almost 2000 the other day

    ...why people afk for HOURS or even DAYS anyway...? Electric energy is not cheap! And having your PS4 or PC 24/7 active too, can damage the system! >.> Soo I dont understand..
