Assuming there is 50-100 afk players, this would completely get rid of q times on Cactuar.
Of course this is no help to the servers that actually need it.

I brought this up in another thread:
Reading comprehension dictates that "a" is akin to "one," therefore you can read it to say "all worlds on one data center." It's no mystery which server is actually having the issue. It's Balmung. The data center it is located on is Aether. Aether will most likely be the only data center, and its worlds, experiencing this lovely addition:As such, we’ll be instituting a temporary measure that will log all characters out simultaneously across all Worlds on a data center once a day.

Really, at this point, I'm all for splintering Balmung. I'm pretty sure the transfer incentives are there so SE doesn't start enforcing a hardcap on the server, but with these issues, this should be done. It'll happen again come 5.0. Even if they never remove the ability to transfer to, or create a new character on Balmung, those returning to the game will cause this to repeat. Until players are forcibly removed from this overpopulated server, because not enough are taking the incentives, the issue will happen again. That's not doomsaying, that is just a fact.

You did not quote the entire paragraph, only one sentence:
The paragraph reads multiple servers are hitting maximum players which led to the login queue happening once more and will continue to be in place for longer than had been expected and/or higher numbers than expected. We've known Balmung was not the only one to get a queue, even Cactuar has it. What I am specifically referring to is the auto log-out function affecting worlds and "a data center." Balmung is the only one experiencing queues of 4k+ with a wait time of over an hour to play.We are experiencing a situation where several Worlds are consistently reaching the maximum number of players that can be logged into the game during peak hours. This has led to extended login queues for players to log in.
Was kind of worried when I first read this about possibly getting booted from inside an instance, but given the 1 hour advance notice I'd say I'm actually quite okay with this measurepeople circumventing auto logout and congesting server needs to be fixed anyway...
Odin apparently has the same issue so EU and Aether will be the only ones probably

Thankfully this is a temporary thing. Honestly if they wanna play ball against afkers that are abusing the afk kicker then add a new option to report: AFK exploiter
which if you click this it causes a menu to pop up on the screen of the accused which they have 1min to click the check box "Im not afk" and then hit okay or else they get dropped even if interacting with an npc.
This would be better than ejecting everyone off all the servers.
Oh hey nothing was here

One minute? If you never go afk for more than one minute, do you have bathroom breaks at your desk or something?Half an hour would be in line with the afk logout measures already in place. That I would prefer over this silly mass kick of the entire server with only 1 hour of notice (less than DF queue times occasionally).

Im going off the thought that someone accused of afk exploiting would have the afk icon/auto running to walls so they would be gone a while already.

You said this:
People can have their afk flag set to activate in 5 minutes. You can choose it in the settings. Some other player could report them after seeing the icon, which would give that player only 6 minutes away from the computer. Ever. Other not-so-smart players could report everyone at a summoning bell, since that's one way to avoid the timer. Giving 1 minute to respond is not enough because it's not against the rules to afk for 29 minutes or less even if you are talking to your retainer, are in the middle of a cutscene, auto-crafting or running against a mountain because you couldn't be bothered to steer your way across the map and went to make a sandwich instead while the character auto-runs.add a new option to report: AFK exploiter
which if you click this it causes a menu to pop up on the screen of the accused which they have 1min to click the check box "Im not afk"
Your idea is bad.
