If DF remains the same as it always is, nothing will change, since the PF options specifically state that they are for guidance only and that you still have to set undersized party in DF. A better idea would be when the duty finder help thingy shows up (that big ? you can click to get more info), have it also talk about the options like undersized party, how to use them, etc.

OP just doesn't know how to ask the right question.

"Can we have a config setting where I can choose to make my current DF settings stay even when I exit the game?"

And voila. New players don't get screwed and old players have a new QoL they can turn off and on at their leisure
