FF12 style moogles for next playable race.

The first thing I want to ask of you before you read any further is to let go of any prejudice against moogles that may carry over from your time spent in The Churning Mists.

Sorry no, Those Moogles designed to give their chores to the Warrior of Light because the Warrior of Light is just a tool to them. Hence they are jerks.

As for adding another kind of Moogle, I don't think there is any way to resolve the lore to do this. The Ivalice moogles look more like rabbits with tiny wings.

A "playable" moogle race would never happen because Square-Enix uses them as a "cute and cuddly" mascot character for the Final Fantasy series as a whole, and the last thing you need is players uploading video of Moogles-Gone-Wild.


What SE could do to give us another potato-race is make a Miqo'tefell or Aurafell that is simply a lalafell with a Miqo'te head and tail or Au Ra head and tail. No additional gear needs to be created. That's probably not what people want however.

The other option is creating a "flashback" scene that de-ages your character (notice how few children NPC's there are other than Hyur) for the cutscene and gives you an option of Glamoring to that age with a limited selection of clothing. Thus we have a "Adventurer's kids" solo dungeon. I'm actually surprised FFXIV doesn't do the "Play someone else via a flashback" thing. That would be a much more useful mechanic than simply a grey-scaled echo flashback.

Okay, I absolutely support the idea of a race inspired by the Ivalician Moogles, but they don't need to be Moogles to work. Just remove the pom-poms and wings, andvwe'd get another small race, a rabbit race, a great happy medium!

According to the artbook, a race like this was part of the Viera pitch (I know, I know, they have their own thread), but the general consensus from the dev team in dealing with cute and small playable characters as it adds a layer of discomfort.

Lalafells are so cartoonish and over the top cute, while being more R-rated and comedic in dialogue to bypass the squick factor of playing a fully fledged adult with the proportions of an infant human. Lalafells are REQUIRED to be teeth rottingly sweet, adorable looking, and full of slapstick. It's integral to their design.


So, how would another cute, small race fit?
