returning WAR question about beast gauge

the description in ffxiv job guide says wars get a bonus to either crit or party when the beast gauge is close to full. I assume this is when the gauge is at 50 and above? if so would it be best to not use up all your gauge except for when inner release is up for 6 fell cleaved spam? I'm quite confused and any help would be great!

I honestly don't know. Would be nice if they had a buff icon indicating the amount of crit or parry ur receiving.

when I get home I can check if crit rating goes up in attributes character screen but I don't think there's one for parry

And I think you're the first person I've met that even really cares...

But since we're on the subject, I wish it was a flat increase not tied to our rage levels.

I assume more more rage equals more parry or crit.

Kinda weird that the job sorta promotes blowing all ur rage as soon as you're full but that's the only time ull get the most out of the stance passive.

That it even requires any rage to have effect of plus parry or crit is weird.

Like I said, flat 3 percent would be better than whatever it is now.

It increases parry when ur in tank stance. It used to increase hit chance.

If I had to guess, I'd say whatever the amount is isn't worth holding on to for the sole purpose of having it. For example, let's say Warriors got 12.5% extra critical hit chance at 50% Beast Gauge, and 25% whenever it was full. Now THAT would be something noticeable. It's probably an extra 10% crit chance when it's full though, which is pretty good but nothing to stop you from not using that Fell Cleave.

    5 mins

    1. path-path-fell cleave at constant 50 beast gauge = dps?

    vs

    2. path-path-path-path-fell cleave-fell cleave (repeat) = dps?

can some kind soul try this our please?

also the difference might be low but so is our illvl right now. I assume this will go up as we get better gear(?). anyway for theory crafting purposes it's just those nice to know things for optimizing rotation

I agree it would be nice to know. Would have been nice if they incorporated that into our new ui. Hats off to you for caring enough about it to even consider testing it on your own.

I, on the other hand, find it wrong that such information isn't made easily available in game through some kind of marker or clear tooltip.

Also kinda irks me that the new tooltip for storm path and inner beast reads heals a "portion" of damage dealt.

it is the first thing that came to my mind when I read the job guide haha. in the course of an 8man fight maintaining a beast gauge of over 50 could be a significant DPS increase compared to draining yourself of stacks every time. the only instance I'm guesstimating a good window wouod be to drain your gauge is when inner release is up for 4 fell cleaves and bringing yourself back up to 50 with infuriate. or burning all 6 fell cleaves if there is a tight DPS window your team absolutely must reach. but again all theorycradt without a test parse
