Unable to find party for first quest dungeon, Sastasha Seagrot

    Hi,

I'm an Archer on Diabolos, not sure if this is the place to be asking about finding party members, but I'm using Duty Finder (need 1 dps, 1 tank, 1 healer). The ETA starts at 15 minutes but increases over time. Not sure if cross-server matching is a thing but I'm convinced that I MESSED UP picking this server. Would appreciate if someone could direct me to where I can find party members for the quest.

I'm also on trial and I know that limits me from using some of the in-game social functions. I also know that I can apply for a world change after purchasing the game, but I'm not too sure about how strict they are in granting a world change.

    Thanks

Hmmm I would recommend leveling up a tank class for dungeons, makes it go faster and then your main at least until with SB cool down a bit. Or ask your FC / friends to tank for you would be faster ^^.

The DF does indeed employ cross-server matching, so what server you chose shouldn't be an issue here. Note, it only pulls users from within your data center, but that's still a very large pool.

As it stands, the DF is absolutely beyond saturated with the new DPS classes. As well, a lot of people are not going through their lower level roulette's (a mechanic meant to entice veteran players to replay lower level dungeons for the sake of helping new players progress) because they're so busy with the new content that Stormblood introduced. Lastly, time of day can make a difference depending on what data center you play on and what timezone you are in.

It's going to take some time to settle down. Otherwise, look forward to 30-60+ minute wait times as a DPS.

In the meantime, a way to increase your chances is to expand the players you are willing to play with and the conditions therein. On the DF window, you should see a small gear symbol in the top left. Clicking this will allow you to broaden your criteria for searching. You can then select things like "Play with people who speak Japanese, French, German, etc" in addition to English. Most people don't talk in a DF party, so language barriers isn't really a thing. That, and the game has auto-translate capabilities for most common phrases.

You can also activate the option to enter a party in progress. Sometimes a party loses a member and needs to replenish their ranks. This can be a quick shortcut to get you into a party faster than someone who doesn't have this option active. Note, this does mean you will miss part of the dungeon that, that party had already completed up to the point that they requested replenishment.

The third option is to grossly out-level the dungeon without having ever done it, then go back in unsyced by yourself and go God-Mode on it. Not recommended unless you used a job-boost potion. Even then, I wouldn't recommend it on low level dungeons because they're great places to learn mechanics you'll be using the rest of your career.

Using the Duty Finder is the right method of finding a party for that dungeon. Your world is not all that important since the Duty Finder queue is cross-server. I.e. it is shared between all the servers in the same datacentre.
I.e. it sounds like you are not doing anything wrong.

The problem you face is most likely that ever since Stormblood launched queue times for DPS classes/jobs (which include Archer) have been longer than usual for everyone. This is because not enough people are playing as tank or healer.
(It is almost always the case that queue times for DPS are longer than for tank/healer, but since SB launch it has been worse than usual.)

What you can do the shorten the queue time is to change class to a tank or healer class, and queue up as that. That should shorten the wait time considerably.
If you don't want to do that, there is not much you can do except wait. Eventually it will be your turn in the Duty Finder and the dungeon will start.

Please note, the game will not auto-translate words on the fly. While typing a word, hit tab. It should try to auto complete the word if the word is in its dictionary of words. You'll know it's a translatable word because it will have green and red brackets around it.

Try typing "Thank" and hit tab. It should pull up "Thank you" in the green and red brackets. To you, it shows up as Thank You. To someone who has their language set to something else, it will show up in their language.

I'm not sure how current it is, but here is a list of the known translatable words and phrases: Link

When you unlock the Party Finder, you can also try making parties there (it's in the Party menu). If you mention it's your first time through people will see they get an extra bonus for joining, and some people just like to play with newbies since it's more fun

If you're in the Novice Network, that can be a good place to ask for people to run content with you. If you're not in that channel yet, ask for an invite to it anywhere you see mentors (players with the crown icon by their name).

Once you buy the game and get rid of the Free Trial limitations, I'd suggest finding a good FC to join. That will be another good place, as most players are willing (often eager) to help out new FC members.
