    In the Future Could we Have Aerial and Water Battles Please?

    For both Heavensward and Stormsblood it just feels weird to swim or fly around in territory that should be teeming enemy monsters. We could have a simple playstyle while fighting like we do in PvP now except fight with only three or four basic but powerful skills during aerial or underwater combat.

    It just seems out of place to fight dragons or aquatic monsters on land only. I'd love to have an aerial battle as a dragoon against dragons and an underwater fight with a shark or kracken as a monk these featurees were ever added in the future! ^^

    Why? We can already breath underwater so why not having underwater battles?

    Again, please explain your reasons why this should not be added into the game. Just coming in here to say no seems pointless to me unless you can give me an example as to why this feature should not be added.

    Yoshi-P explicitly promised no underwater combat when they showed off diving at Fanfest. Adding in underwater combat would be a serious break in trust between the community and the developers.

    EDIT #1: A better question is have you PLAYED other games or MMOs that had aerial or underwater combat? it isn't very fun and very hard to do simple movement. Also it would be a nightmare to try to visualize aoe markers in an environment where there is no ground.

    I'm guessing you've never done any sort of underwater combat before, its awful. With how finicky the targetting system in this is, aka: You're out of range!, when you're character is slightly faced away from the mob.. can you even imagine how awful this would be underwater? Depth perception is already a pain for me, I don't need the disorienting effect of being underwater on top of it.

    So again, no thanks.

    I agree with the no thanks camp. I hated it in WoW.

    I've really enjoyed the underwater non-combat quests so far, nice relaxing change of pace.

    Thank you both for giving answers as to why you both wouldn't want underwater combat. Yes, I've never played any game where aerial or underwater fighting was involved but I thought it'd be pretty cool to do so in this game since we have sooooooooooooooo much open space but with hardly anything to do in it. EDIT: Strike that. Played Kingdom Hearts 1 which had both aerial and underwater combat in it if that counts.

    I never new our characters could go out of range by facing the wrong way. Wasn't that fixed so when that happens our characters automatically turned to whichever enemy they're locked onto currently?

    Also, could I have a link in which Yoshi-P had said they wouldn't be adding underwater combat please? Even if he did say so, he and his team have broken promises before, such as adding more egi to play for SMN. So, as far as I can tell, this is still a possible idea for the future that can still be implemented.

    Hmm, I just had an idea. What if our characters used a sort of similar lock-on system to how we use on land (you know, that autolock that makes us run around in circles around the enemy) where instead of just moving in a circle, running forward and slowly backing away from the enemy when targeting them, we instead automatically move closer to them with a simple push/keystroke of a button and are placed within our individual classes range limits while still keeping freedom to move about by unclicking/untapping that said button when wanting to dodge aoe attacks or to simply get away from the enemy?

    An idea for the AoEs being visible while in the air or water. Just make it so the aoe shows in the same way it does on land, except instead of it being shown as a flat invisible circle or cone underwater, it's instead shown as a full see through 3D circle or cone that surrounds the enemy or shows up in front of them so it's clearly visible for all to see! And when your character is in the said 3D Aoe circle or cone, they will light up in a bright red or other color that can be clearly seen so you know when to get out of them. Wouldn't that solve the aoe problem underwater/in air?

    Also, with being able to move up or down in water or air. To prevent yourself from being unable to attack or run away properly when an enemy suddenly pops up within your blind spot and you can't move to strike them properly due to them being above or below you, or because you don't turn around so you can simply attack them. What if we could automatically move toward or face them with the auto-lock on idea system I mentioned earlier? That could solve the headache of getting killed out of the blue because we couldn't move about properly in the air or underwater.
