Let me do my job please...

Can't tank a single dungeon in this game without the dps going in first. Before we started I told the group "you pull it you tank it". And that's what they did. And the healer kept on healing them the entire time. (Was in Sastasha fyi). And to make matters worse. They ended up kicking me for "not doing my job". I had heard that this game was in short supply of tanks and I can see why. The players don't let them do their job and get mad at them for not doing it. Time to roll a dps.

I've always thought it was stupid that people have this power trip when they play a healer or a tank. The stupid idea of "you tank it you pull" shouldn't be something you hold against your party. So what if they pull? You can basically take aggro off them with a single button press.

They were right in that you weren't doing your job out of spite. Adapt to the situation rather than be stubborn and have everything be required to fall into your perfect plan.
Sorry to be blunt, but if you can't adapt, you have no business being a tank, let alone being a good player altogether.

I mean... Sastasha is easy enough to where one could get away with that (depending on the healer of course), but I do understand the frustration of it. I dont run into that a lot personally though. I don't tank fairly often myself, though when I'm healing, I won't heal til the tank engages the enemy. If a DPS wants to pull and "play tank", I'll let them kick the bucket. More often than not though, the tank pulls whatever off the dps and we go from there. When I play a DPS, I follow the tank. It's a matter of respect.

Now, if the tank is just... outright failing, then that's a different story. lol

I dunno why you started the dungeon with "you pull it you tank it" comment. It is condescending and they probably wanted to just teach you a lesson for being rude. It's okay to have that philosophy but there is no reason to say it out loud at the beginning when no one has done anything dumb.

I don't really mind it so long as they don't pull more then I can handle. I normally pull 2-3 mobs anyways. When I started playing range dps I would pull mobs to the tank as he tanks the previous mob. It makes the dungeon faster.

I've noticed since 4.0 hit DPS don't wait for you to pull at all. It is annoying. Sometimes I am group ing them up for the AoEs and people are going nuts on them and aggroing them and messing up what I'm trying to do.

    Not as comnmon before 4.0.

Part of the problem is the MLG red mage guides tell people to hard-cast veraero or verthunder right out the gate, instead of leading in with jolt like normal because this'll give them about 150 more potency over the course of the entire fight. However, if they lead with dual-cast verthunder (and probably fleche for good measure weaved between them) that is 600-1,020 potency dumped onto the target in the opening 1 to 2 GCD windows of the engagement; it'll look amazing on the DPS table, completely useless if you had any hope the tank would establish aggro on your target.

You know, you people are right. I haven't touched this game in a year. I was just irritated at the fact that the dps kept pulling first. I honestly don't know what's happening in the game right now due to my absence. Sorry if I offended anyone here. Guess I just need to keep going and figure out the do and don'ts.

Just roll with the punches man. We all come across the odd group here and there but it depends on how you look at it. You can sit there and complain about how they're pulling for you or you can work on your tanking skills by pulling enemies off of them and adapting to the situation. Being a tank involves a lot of situational awareness and sometimes players will pull aggro from you by simply over DPSing and they won't be doing it intentionally. Look at those bad groups as practice for later.
