I'd hate for this fight to be nerfed! Honestly, it's tough, but it's incredible exhilarating (especially healing through it).
I've found that sometimes dealing with the DF party you get paired with can be harder than simply learning the fight and progressing. Not for any skill reasons, but just because it seems like enough people have earned clears at this point to start instantly bailing after the first wipe because they don't want to deal with fresh players.
The expansion is still technically brand new, and this is a story trial (not even EX), but some groups don't want to deal with anyone goofing even if it's their first time. The attitude I've encountered seems to treat Shin as if this is an EX primal- know the guide, know the fight, mess up and you're not worth the time. The thing is...it isn't an EX, even if the demands placed on the players are similar.
My personal experience with this below the cut:
Been taking my time with the MSQ and just got to Shinryuu this morning. I've done EX primals and some raiding content, so picking up the mechanics wasn't too much of a hassle once I knew what to look for.
Tried to clear it and had two failed DF instances where people just up and left even though the party was close to clearing. Both of those instances also contained the same troll bard who would queue in and then immediately run off the ledge before Shin had even been pulled. They'd lie there dead regardless of rez's, or rez and then run off the edge again. We asked them to join us in doing the duty (no response) and eventually vote kicked both times, but then people would leave en mass either immediately after or the moment a wipe occurred. If they didn't, and we did a couple more runs, everybody would just vote to end the encounter even if we had been close to clearing. I ended up reporting the bard, but it wasn't just that one player contributing to the uphill battle.
I ran two more times, one that got cut short because there were a bunch of new players and everyone immediately bailed and another that went well and was fought hard, but that ended when a couple people had to run to work.
Overall, I think this is such a hard instance because it demands that players work together to overcome the mechanics and damage. Everybody needs to be maximizing theirs skillsets and executing mechanics to make it through, but it's a learning process. You can definitely do it and it's amazing once you do.
So, I guess my opinion isn't that the fight needs to be nerfed, but that people going into the fight need to nerf their expectations of it being a quick or easy clear. Everybody should try to go into it with an open mind and a willingness to just take what comes and try to make it work.
