    ffxiv royal menagerie trial Normal

Royal Menagerie needs a nerf worked at this trial with a lvl 70 job and best gear even medicine and food for over 10 hours and simply there is no way to clear it. The boss simply puts out too much damage for 2 healers and the 3 limited self heals. I can do I even popped high level healing item in fight to somehow try to survive and every time even with full understanding of the mechanics the boss could only be beaten down to about 35%. I have used every skill rotation I can find Online I tried help from the FC im part of and all I can get out of anyone is : Buy a clear. I don't have millions of Gil i can waste on a possible clear and frankly the fight needs to be made optional for story line or nerfed down to where its legitimately easier on players. I even tried playing on a PC rather than PS4 shut everything down to maintain the best connection i can for both and simply there is nothing that can be done to pass that content.

Unsub. Solve your problem. Lol but seriously, ask for help in pf.

Are you doing mechanics, if you are healing is relatively light. Make sure you kill the tail. Dodge the things. Win!

This fight is gonna get significantly easier as more people get better gear.

The fight is perfect as it is, finally a battle that forces people to learn their job and do mechanics instead of just facerolling everything.
It'll get easier on its own anyway, as people slowly but surely will outgear it.

This fight is fine if not on the hard side. I have managed to finish this fight on my Main and Alt as a fresh lvl 70 at about ilvl 280 - 290 with not food. apart from adding echo to the fight any further fixes would be overkill. I would recomend if you are doing this as a healer NOT to dps as the boss outputs a lot of unavoidable damage at quite a fast rate

I think the fight is awesome! Comming from WoW its nice to have a challenge for once. I tried 2 times last night but we only could get him to 30%. So ill be trying again tonight but first i need to find something that explains all the mechanics cause there is a ton! Run out of one right into another lol.

This is my first time playing ffxiv at max level and I hope the whole end game is like this. Not like pushover WoW. If WoW taught me one thing making things easy destroys the game, its about having a challenge.

I don't think it needs a nerf. The tail reducing 10% HP makes dps almost irrelevant. All you have to do is stay alive and the mechanics are simple once you know what they are.

It is challenging due to the number of possible instant death mechanics from falling off the ring. A simple nerf can be like the tail smacking the panel you're standing on doesn't kill you instantly because it can be hard for some people to see during the chaos.

So i read all these threads on the boards about how hard this fight was and how no one was ever going to get past it. I avoided watching the videos and only skimmed posts that specifically talked about mechanics. I was taking my time getting through the expansion, but i still wanted a fairly blind play through of this epic encounter. So yesterday i clear ala mhigo, and put up a PF for managerie. Took about 20 mins to fill(DPS que could easily have been twice that), and the group was about half new people, and half people who wanted a bonus. No one really explained the mechanics, though a couple of the veterans joked about how we would probly lose half the party to the first tidal wave.

First pull. We start fighting, he sets up for tidal wave, and either by figuring it out or by paying attention to what the other people were doing no one fell. I failed the quick time event(i didnt know there was one!), and the party eventually died off to an ahk morn that wasnt shared properly and him then downing the party one shot at a time.

Second pull. No problems with the first phase. I hit a lag spike and got knocked over the edge by the alternating columns attack(which apparently has a knockback). This time i survive the QTE, but dodge the wrong way to the follow up flyover of the platform and fall off anyway. Party does very well, and we fail at about 5% to lack of healing(i was focusing on damage and dodging, so i didnt see what downed the healers). Everyone a little disappointed at the late failure, but not really salty.

Third pull. Clean from start to finish. The healers had a few reses to throw around, but for the most part everyone played their parts brilliantly(this pull i managed not to get knocked off at all). There was a scary moment at 1% where he knocked off half the party, but it happened while we were getting in the final couple hits to win. Final tally, 1 group, 3 pulls, 3 personal derp-deaths, and a finished trial.

So yeah, its a decently tough fight. He has a lot of mechanics(what is it, 14 or 15 total?), he hits pretty hard(though as we outgear the fight this will be less of an issue), and i can see how some people would be overwhelmed. But of those mechanics, are any of them new? Spread out for thunderbolts? Stack in to share damage? Knockback attacks on an arena with soft edges? The arena falling apart as we fight giving us less room to maneuver? Everything he does has been used on you previously in an MSQ fight(not even optional raids, but required story fights). So yeah, no where near as tough as some people have been ranting about. Had fun, would recommend, 8.5/10.
