    Whats with -etsu?

Just wondering because a lot of the named samurai in the game have names that end in -etsu.

(some of these are from the samurai job quests)

    Gosetsu
    Ugetsu
    Kagetsu

Just wondering if there is a significance

Getsu means moon. Setsu can mean snow. It's just Japanese stuff.

Yea I know that for the name of the abilities...but I am talking about how most of the important named SAM's in the game have their names end with -etsu

You're missing my point. I'm not talking about the Samurai skill names. 月(getsu) moon and 雪(setsu) snow, just happen to have etsu behind them. えつ(etsu) by itself has many drastically different meanings. Kagetsu for example can mean fire moon 火月(kagetsu). There is no etsu in these names, only getsu and setsu.

They just end with the same sound, somewhat like how "carbon" and "carpet" begin with the same sound but they do not at all share the same Latin roots despite both coming from Latin if you look back far enough. Due to the syllabic nature of Japanese, "etsu" (エツ) is not a part of "setsu" (セツ) or "getsu" (ゲツ), as odd as it may seem when you spell it alphabetically. (using kana here, since that's what the NPCs in game are spelt with; it's an often-exercised convention in fiction, but I fear explaining it fully might be more information than you wish)

Your question is perhaps better directed towards the lore forum, as all of those names are in fact words in modern Japanese.

No more significant than John, Joseph, and Joffre.
