I didn't mean to imply that the small population would implode; I agree with you that it's stable. What I mean by a small population leading to the game's death is the company pulling the plug on it, which would most definitely happen to this game if the population stays small. Not 12k small, but >100k small.
I agree; they should definitely do that. That's the kind of move that the gaming community would respect. Just say, our bad, we admit our mistakes, and this is beta 2. Because that's what it is. The full release isn't until 2.0, obviously.
14k does not fund this game betelgeuzah. If you think 1.4 Million dollars a year can pay for 250 people, that means everyone is only making $5,600 a year. Something has to change for this game to make money, but it has nothing to do with charging 12,000 or so people $9.99 a month.
