I healed susano ex for the first time last night where the WAR used the ilvl 270 str rings. He was a breeze to heal compare to the full vit PLD's in tank stance, makes me wonder why.

Could be a lot of factors. Your second healer could be more proactive in the WAR run. The PLD could be bad and not mitigating stuff properly, you got the picture.

I had the opposite experience happen in PF Susano EX. Warrior had 40k HP and if he wasn't always completely topped off he would mostly likely die the next big hit. The big hit was coming in around 35k HP. This isn't a big deal the first part of the fight other than having to baby sit the tank, but would have been an issue on the last phase with all the other dmg going around. This was not a farm group (no clears) so healing requirement was greater due to gear and occasional missed mechanics. Never even had to stress this with other tanks with normal HP.
35k is ridiculously high for Stormsplitter. I think my average hit taken was more manageable at the 17-19k range. At 40k HP it would take a little less than half health. That sounds like poor/no cooldown use rather than what right side gear they were wearing. A 35k hit would still suck to heal on someone who had 47k health. Especially when it doesn't have to be that way.I had the opposite experience happen in PF Susano EX. Probably just popped vengeance.35k is ridiculously high for Stormsplitter. I think my average hit taken was more manageable at the 17-19k range. With IB,Rampart and Vengeance you get that average hit of 17-19k, with Raw Intuition and Healer CD's you might be able to take 0 dmg and not even suffer the debuff.

The i300 ex primal requirements (that a lot of PFs adopt or increase) already stops this from being a thing in anything but dungeons. By the time 4.2 rolls around the ex roulette requirements will be high enough that it can't be done there, either. And statics, well.. if static healers are willing to tolerate it, that's up to them.
When the new crafted accessories release in a few weeks, though, I think we'll see a lot of STR melds. And that will be a way to get STR without worrying about ilvl lockouts.
Advanced melding is not possible for primary stats, so you can't meld any more strength to a crafted accessory than you can to a tomestone/Lakshmi accessory. The i270 accessories will remain the go-to for tanks that want more strength.

I see. Well, I guess ilvl lockouts it is...
I can guarantee you right now I will leave the party if I see any tank with STR accessories on. I don't care if I get a penalty. I will NOT be putting up with this.
Everyday is great at your Junes~
