You must be new to MMOs.

No, extreme undercutting will never be a violation because it's a free market ran by the players. How much an item is "worth" is based off of supply and demand. If someone puts an item up that is "worth" 100k for 50k just to get it to sell quicker then said player would be the one to lose out in the end. However, if they flood the market with these items all for 50k, it will eventually drive the item's "worth" down to that level based on the supply they put up. Nothing wrong here unless it involves RMT activity.

Sounds to me like your just mad because someone took an item that made you some gil on the side and exploited it so everyone else could buy it for less.

I see nothing wrong with this. Find another item to farm/make money with and move on. No need to make threads about it.

Why would I be mad at someone else if I reported myself for the extreme undercutting?

Funnily enough, RuneScape at least USED to do that with the Grand Exchange and trading. There were certain caps to value that could be traded. So you had to follow the markets when selling, you couldn't deviate too far. I believe on the Grand Exchange you were only allowed to deviate 5% from the average price (it'd adjust automatically dependent on how much an item was trading for, if the item was selling consistently above average, average price would go up, and vice-versa for if it was consistently selling below average). And trades outside of the GE had to have value of max 100k difference traded between both sides, and once you'd used that allowance it took time to recharge as well. I think it was 24 hours.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I was expecting snark. Nice you came back at me respectfully. More should follow that example.

But I have to still disagree with you. And I played runescape and if I remember the restrictions on price lead to many who craft in mmos to forgo crafting and selling as "what's the point". Controls on economy tend to damage games. Might I suggest if you are drastically undercut next time, buy the item and sell it back at your asking price. You get a good item for a massive discount, can make a large profit, and place your listings at the top of the page. That's how I deal with undercutters.

The value of all items on the market board are set by the players, not by SE, therefore it's for the players to control. If someone undercuts you buy it and raise the price. If multiple people undercut you then obviously the market has decided that that items value is lower than you think. Or you can buy all of them out and again raise the price, or wait until the price fluctuates more favourably. Though over time most item's value trends down.

I am one of those who undercuts. I mean everyone does it.
No reason at all because why not.

No, it should not be a violation. Echoing others in this thread, it's a free market, sell what you want at the price you want, if it's worth it to someone they'll buy it.
